The Chrome Colossus: SANSUI G8000 Monster Receiver

Asking Price Condition
$425.00 Great

Description: The wall-shaking, bone-crushing, face-melting Sansui G8000 and its slightly bigger brother the G9000, are among the most colossal pieces of audio engineering ever achieved by humankind in the stereo receiver format, delivering both awesome power and unerring musicality.

This is a member of Sansui's Legendary GX000 series, one of the most feverishly pursued pieces of audio hardware in the history of the world. This unit is factory rated at 120 watts per channel (though as with all these units, actually running far higher), frequency response 5Hz-50,000Hz .2Db -1.3Db into 4 or 8 ohms. Total harmonic distortion at full rated power is rated at only .03% - meaning not detectable by mere mortals.

Everything works. Every light. Every switch. No crackling knobs and switches. When it was refreshed, every critical juncture point was inspected and cleaned. It is literally in beautiful working order.

Insanely loud.

Incredibly precise.

This incredible piece of hardware has:
2 phono and 1 aux. input (for CD players, iPods, tuners and other devices)
An FM Dolby switch
Subsonic and high filters
A loudness switch
FM muting switch
Two tape monitor loops (with copy for both directions)
Defeatable bass mid and treble tone controls
Pre-out and main-in jacks with direct-or capacitor coupling switch

Unit is in near-new condition. I bought it as a working unit but when I received it, there was a nearly microscopic crack in one of the boards that prevented it from coming out of protection mode. Best thing that could have happened. I had a senior tech (formally of KLH, Apt Corporation, etc.) completely refit the board and upgrade all decaying electronics. His assessment is that the unit had never seen any appreciable use since it was manufactured. It may have been parked as unreliable due to intermittent board failure. Since then it has given me daily inspiration - until I went to separates.

This altar and covenant to audiophile listening is mind-blowingly powerful, delivering sonics that would not be achievable with any contemporary audio technology for less than five figures. Incredible sonics never fail to surprise and delight - distinguished by an especially satisfying bass register. Jazz, rock or the most finely detailed orchestral performances will all be flawlessly rendered by this vintage unit. Technically, the unit has a fine tuner and 2 fine phono pre stages. Collectors of vinyl will be pleased with this receiver.

The accompanying photographs are recent images of the actual unit - not pictures clipped off an eBay auction. It does present beautifully. All the lights and meters work. You have a very nice piece here. This is a heavy piece of hardware. At 55 pounds, you know that you are getting a piece of technology that has not stinted on its parts.

Come and listen and be amazed. Bring your favorite records and CDs and speakers to hear them as you've never heard them before.

Local pick-up in Boston area ONLY.

NO shipping anywhere at any price.

You must hear this unit and be completely satisfied that it represents the end of your audio quest before you carry it off.

Price is $425 or BRO and the terms of transaction are CASH IN HAND ONLY in IMMEDIATE PAYMENT at time of transaction.

NO barter and NO exceptions.

I can't seem to find any pictures. It also may be a hard sell if you're not willing to ship.

I just purchased a SX-1980 and had it shiped all the way from Cali to New York. Cost me a bundle but well worth it.
