Hi guys...

I'm bidding on both of these on EBay and so far, I'm winning them both although things might change soon :D

In your opinion, which one of the two is the best one? They look a lot alike to me and seem to be well constructed... (both beautiful)

Are there any major sonic differences between the two?

What cartridges would you recommend for them?

Thanks in advance

I bought a Denon DP-47F for my Dad that we still own. It is a surprisingly musical sounding turntable. For the cartridge I got him a brand new Denon 103d MC. It really was a decent sounding t/table and a much higher quality sound than someone like me expected from it. I have had lots of fun to listening to it, and playing my elderly Dad's records for him, which is why I bought it originally for its ease of use for my Dad. It is not in the same league sonically as my Well Tempered Classic is, but on the flip side setting it up was a lot less painful. Considering brand new it costs 10x less than a WTC table it does not sound 10x worse. :) If I were bidding the Denon is the one I would want. Sometimes you can check Audiogon for other higher end Denon tables. With all the hype about Garrard 301/401 tables sounding so good if you took a few of the higher end Denon tables and built them a similar custom plinth the results could be similar. I would suggest a Target wall shelf or a Mapleshade solid maple stand for it. You can also buy a far less expensive block of maple or other hard wood and just buy some footers for it to save loot and DIY it a bit. What really scares the snot out of me is the singular lack of shipping skills by most ebay turntable sellers. You can do your research and dogpile or google "shipping a turntable," or "how to ship a turntable." Hopefully you live close enough to drive for it. Good luck! John

I believe Packrat has one, a QL-Y5F and there are others. I have a QL-10
but have yet to spend much time with it.

My sister has a Denon DP-47F....that I helped her set up around 15 years ago(?). At the time, I put in a AT cartridge...though I don't know whats in there now? Sounded pretty good when I set it up, and when I last saw her...6 months ago....she still had it.
