A friend found a nice Technics SL-D2 and he's having trouble getting the stylus lined up. Would anyone have any idea what the overhang spec is for this deck, or where one might find it. He's tried the mirrored alignment gauge and he's sure it's not correct. :sigh:

If you look at the standard Technics headshell, the overhang appears to coincide roughly with the middle of the white writing "Technics" at the front edge of the headshell. I am looking at my overhang gauge right now with a spare Technics headshell in it. I am measuring
just slightly over 2-1/16 " or 52 mm from the edge of the rubber grommet to the overhang point (stylus tip).

According to the Technics literature it's 52mm from the end of the rubber grommet to the stylus tip.

You could do a paper protractor with null points at 58.8mm and 113.52mm.

Thanks
