What has been your experience with headphone amplifiers for mp3 players (one of those pocket sized, battery powered units that goes inline between the mp3 player and the headphones)?

Some of the best I've heard are the Headamp one and the one from Headroom (not the Airhead, the next one up).

I have a Pa2v2 and it does a good job with my Grado SR60s for the price. Others that people recommend are the Go Vibe (which is supposed to be better for Sennheiser phones) and the very highly rated RSA Hornet.

I bought the Pa2v2 because it has a convenient rechargable battery (just plug it in when you want to charge it) and it was supposed to be a good match for Grados (which it is).

I love mine.
Picked it up on e-bay for under $50 (including shipping).
Uses a TI/Burr Brown 2227 op-amp (nice).
Works great with my Senn. PX100 headphones.
I also use it to power my VERY STRANGE speakers at work.
A pair of 32 ohm (NOT a misprint), 4 inch full-range FOSTER Alnico speakers.
The Cmoy amp drives them to co-worker annoying levels...heh...heh...
