View Full Version : Hey Listening Room People!!!!
Retro Stereo 03-01-2007, 11:21 AM What are you going to set up at the 2007 AK Fest?
My original listening room set up consisted of an EchoWars rebuilt SPEC 1/SPEC 2 combo with a pair of Thiel CS3.6 speakers, which I am bringing.
However, I was just informed not too long ago that my AR-9 woofers are now done with their re-foam (thanks JimBecky) and are close to Detroit waiting for me. So, not mentioning any names, I got talked into bringing my AR-9 speakers there as well. Along with those, I'll need another SPEC 2 to properly bi-amp those AR-9's, and guess what, EchoWars just got done rebuilding another one of my SPEC 2's! Army is supplying the external crossover for the bi-amping process and the speaker wires and interconnects will be made by Zebra Cables.
That just leaves some sources to feed these two systems. I'm bringing a variety of CD/DVD players for source, one modded by the Talking Dog Tranceducer Company and at least one will be a SACD as well.
Now, if someone else wants to bring some source equipment, ie, a turntable (BigMacc), tuner, DAC, RTR, Tape Deck, etc., and hear what it sounds like through one, or both of the two systems I'm bringing, by all means, bring them.
Everyone make sure to bring some of your favorite CD's for a listen and be prepared to have a good time.

EricC 03-01-2007, 12:43 PM Are you using a SF-850 crossover?
Retro Stereo 03-01-2007, 01:03 PM Are you using a SF-850 crossover?
No, I don't even think it's a Pioneer crossover. Maybe if Army sees your question, he can chime in on the model and the maker.

The Klipsch and Polk are in the low 90's, and the A/D/S/ are high 80's for efficiency. There will be something there for them to drive, no problem!
Let's party!!! :thmbsp:
bolly 03-19-2007, 05:31 PM woot! :smoke:

I'd love to hear them.. Do you have a room?
Negotiableterms 03-20-2007, 01:56 AM A few folks have also promised to bring other dacs and digital sources so we can have a bit of a "shoot out," and a few may bring other gear to try in the room.
I'll be bringing a McIntosh MDA-700 (20bit/8x), a Grace m902 (24/192) and thanks to Glenn from Audio Two and Ernie, a Cambridge 840C (24/384). I'm trying to get Chuck Hinton, who's coming from McIntosh, to let us use an MDA-1000 (24/768), but I suspect they're a little worried about letting an $8,000 toy out of their sight.

Not 2 watts but my 300B 7watt of giant set power will be there. :)
But alas I'll have no extra space to house those monsters of yours, if someone
else has the space to accomidate, thy 300B can be loaned out to work for you.
dgwojo 03-20-2007, 07:07 AM I'd love to hear them.. Do you have a room?
No room reserved by me, it's hard to make plans anymore with TOO many hobbies including the sound systems at the local theatre, two restuarants, two banquet halls and the lamp hobby!! :tears:
