If you’re a fan of Bach, Classical or Classical guitar you might need this one for the collection. I have heard Paul Galbraith recordings in the past but never have I owned one. I heard a selection from this CD recently and knew this was the one for me. Had to order it but it was well worth the wait.
Paul’s 8-string (that’s right, 8 string) classical guitar arrangement for Bach’s The Sonatas and Partitas for violin or 6 solo, is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. I have listened to this double CD three times through since I picked it up at Borders last Friday. Absolutely stunning guitar work at might even impress the non-classical lover. The first time through, I was almost reduced to tears by the end of the first CD, Sonata #2 and I’m man enough to admit it.
Check it out for your own enjoyment or maybe even use it to impress the chicks with your “cultured” side. A great listen when you want to relax after a long grueling workday. Also, a great test of the midrange nuance/detail capabilities of your favorite Kabuki speakers.
Paul Galbraith, Bach ~ The Sonatas and Partitas for unaccompanied violin.
