View Full Version : Meter problems on Akai X360D reel-to-reel

Hey, I have an Akai X360D reel... which seems to work perfectly, but for the left VU meter being dead. I've checked with a VOM... the meter is OK, but it is not getting any signal.

I'm sure it's probably something on one of the edge-card circuit boards, plugged in the bottom of the unit? Anyone know what parts I should be looking to check out/replace? I probably can diagnose, by comparing the dead channel to the live one, but I'm trying to avoid that much "detective work", if possible...

Thanks!

Regards,
Gordon.

Hi Gordon

Do you have any output signal on that channel where the VU-meter is dead ?

Yep, it'll play back thru the line outs from tape on both channels, and put signal onto the tape in record as well. Just the meter not moving...

Gordon.

I would check the connections first Gordon, follow the VU-meter wires and see what you find.
It has several of those slot-cards inside, not sure which one controls the VU-meter.
A schematic would be the solution Gordon.

Vintage TX, I have an Akain 360D that blows the fast blow fuse when you hit play. Operates OK in FF and REWIND. Any ideas?
