I've been meaning to swap these cables in for some time, but with two little kids, time is the one thing I haven't had in abundance  . Today was a different story as one of my homebrew silver wire interconnects developed a loose connection, leaving me with no right channel and a little pissy :p: . So, in go the XLOs, used between the Rega Planet CDP and the MAC1900 using the ML-1C McIntosh speakers and MQ101 EQ.
Right out of the package, they have a different feel. They almost have an industrial rubber-coated feel to them, even though they are very thin. Most importantly, they're flexible. They just feel like a quality piece, which is the first step to me liking them :)
Now I'm not going to say that what was once sonic garbage is now sonic bliss, but an interesting thing that I did note is that somehow it seems that the differences in the control settings seemed much different than with the cables that I'd used before. Again I can't quite quantify the difference, but it was there, and it was a positive, albeit a small one, mostly because it seemed that changing the controls on my EQ seemed to make more of a difference than they did before, and I liked that. But that's not the best part.
The best selling point of these cables is that they make everything in the back of my system so damn neat! They're not flopsy like most cables, they are somewhat rigid without being like plastic tubing, they're easy to keep organized and damn near impossible to tangle. My system's like a lot of yours, where the cables end up being a mess no matter how well you try to organize them. I've tried wire ties, looms, you name it, and they all, well, suck. I'm going to end up buying a couple of sets of these from Omer not because they transform a system magically into something it's not, but just because they're so damn nice to use and organize! Considering the amount of interconnects and wires we all have and also taking into account the low cost of these cables (what is it again, Omer?), these are really a great buy. They're a pleasure to plug in, really. You won't want to take them out, ever.
