I am! Pete Retro Stereo 03-21-2007, 11:24 AM Me too! I've got just about everything ready to go. Just need to back the old Ford Windstar into the driveway tomorrow night and load her up. Just about 500 lbs of speakers (2 pairs) and a couple of 100 lbs more in gear. I just hope I have plenty of room for everything. :scratch2: Retro Andyman 03-21-2007, 03:08 PM Yep, me too. Spent the last days sorting through LPs for my swap table and figuring out what to drag over. Lucky for me I live a whole 10 minutes away!! Ampzilla 03-21-2007, 03:59 PM I plan on going (!) with a friend from Royal Oak, which is close by. I was only there on Sunday last time and plan to get there Saturday and that may be less hectic and look forward to meeting as many as possible as last time I was overwhelmed to say the least. Johncan 03-21-2007, 04:56 PM I just found out I can't go. Maybe next year. Have fun guys! John Markus111 03-21-2007, 11:24 PM I'm pumped! Not ready yet, though. Still trying to get all of the bits and pieces together. Can't wait! Markus nickrobotron 03-21-2007, 11:32 PM Sounds like a freaking blast! Maybe next year. Do the fests have a lot of vintage gear? Or is it mostly newer hi-fi? piece-it pete 03-22-2007, 08:38 AM Both! Festivus! Pete RichPA 03-22-2007, 08:41 AM Sitting here at work I can't think of anything else - festfestfestfest. Maybe next year. Have fun guys! John I'm sorry to hear it. This will be my first AK Fest, and only because strange circumstances have landed me temporarily in Royal Oak - I could nearly walk to the place. Who knew? I will drink one in your honor. Walshdriver 03-23-2007, 09:56 AM I am new here so go easy. Is this Fest always in the same part of the country. Is it ever held other places? :D Wigwam Jones 03-23-2007, 10:04 AM It has to be held near where Grumpy lives, as the terms of his probation don't allow him to travel out of state. Ankle bracelet and stuff. Walshdriver 03-23-2007, 10:11 AM I know the situation well. Don't ask!! Wigwam Jones 03-23-2007, 10:13 AM I'm just messing with ya. Grumpy is not on house arrest. As far as I know. But I think the fest has been held here every year to date. Could be wrong, I'm frequently out of my mind. Wigwam Jones 03-23-2007, 10:14 AM Oh, and by the way - welcome. The traditional dog-pile-on-the-new-guy can be waived in this case, I think. But that's not up to me to decide. Walshdriver 03-23-2007, 10:18 AM "Dog pile on the new guy"? Let it rip, I can take it!!! Andyman 03-24-2007, 08:34 AM BTW, just so all you homeys know, there's a major fubar with the wireless internet connection in the hotel, so any live reports may be a bit dicey. I know folks are trying to hook up, but so far there's been limited success. See you there............ Sandy G 03-24-2007, 08:58 AM Well, I hope that at least this year the elevators stop on the floor you want 'em to...and the hotel's restaurant is back open...Altho that restaurant down the street from Grumpy's house was VERY good... Clarence 03-24-2007, 11:01 AM Well, I'm on my way. You have been warned. barrynsue 03-24-2007, 11:19 AM Wow! I know the FEST will be FANTASTIC! I tried booking a flight last week and the rates were ridiculous. My daughter wanted to visit University of MI and my wife was going to do the tours while I attended the Fest. About $1,600 not including hotel, car, etc. so I had to pass.:tears: Would have loved to be there but we all will be anxiously awaiting updates and pics! Hoping you all have a blast  Wigwam Jones 03-24-2007, 11:33 AM Wow, I fly Northwest from Detroit to Raleigh once a month or so - usually runs about $300 roundtrip, sometimes less - 1.5 hour flight nonstop. If I am willing to be routed through Philly or DC, I can get it for $145 or so. Seriously, you might want to consider driving down to NC and flying out of Raleigh. Wish I had known you were having trouble finding good airline prices. Bummer, man. barrynsue 03-24-2007, 11:41 AM Wow, I fly Northwest from Detroit to Raleigh once a month or so - usually runs about $300 roundtrip, sometimes less - 1.5 hour flight nonstop. Wish I had known you were having trouble finding good airline prices. Bummer, man. Yep,that was for three of us. If it had only been me, I would have been willing to be diverted to get a cheaper flight but with the women along, it just wasn't going to work. Scheduling was also an issue as we could not leave until late Friday and had to be back by Sunday afternoon. when you add too many restrictions, the cost jumps tremendously as I am sure you are aware. I will make plans next year however as I will be coming alone! :thmbsp: CarlV 03-24-2007, 12:21 PM any body going there to record scrounge i,m looking for a lp ,,,,RUBY STARR with GREY GHOST if any body find one in decent shape grab it and ak me ,,thanks in advance ,,,robert I saw them once. :sigh: Carl Sandy G 03-24-2007, 12:41 PM Say their computer's tore up at the Fest? Kegger 03-26-2007, 08:02 AM I'm not sure who won all the prizes, when you have a room setup and your the only one guy doin it makes it a bit difficult to get out and see things at times, I had a couple people room sit now and then to get around a bit. I heard someone had spent a lot on raffle an got his money worth as he won like 3 prizes, I won $45 on a 50/50 raffle which covered the tickets on prizes plus 50/50 for me both days, so not to shabby at all. |
