Guys,
OK, this is a bit embarrassing for me but here it is. My buddies say that my living room says to potential girlfriends “There is no room for you in my life! Go away!”
I hope not. I think it says, come on in! Lets slow dance or just enjoy the tunes!

Last night was the first time I got to turn up the new MC-275 and I have to say it’s a beauty! The sound was effortless and the dew got rolled away like back in the day! I am replacing a really nice Dynaco ST-70 with the Curcio mod’s on the front end and it sounds very, very good but just didn’t have the power to push my “Bozak wall of sound” :music: :music: Thanks for all of your kind words.

I think your room shows panache....classy!

The girls may think it's junk, but think of some of the cutesy they collect...

At least your collection has great merit, in my opinion!

You should be able to impress the ladies with big flat screen TV, I do not see that in your room, as for hi end audio, they do not care much for that.

Yes!

I have a killer 42" HD flatscreen in my bedroom! It's a Viewsonic and it's the best picture I have ever seen, STILL!!

Yep, in a womans' mind, it says, "HE'S TROUBLE!" lol.

If it's any consolation, I think it looks pretty good.

That room looks like my wife's worst nightmare of how our living room would look if it were up to me! :yikes: I think she'd rather let the dogs do our decorating. :sigh:

Very few women want to look at electronics. If you want to make your room female friendly, you need to cut way back on the "clutter":

-Lose all but one pair of speakers. The upside down ones on the top of the stack are especially female unfriendly.
-Get an enclosed case with a door for your electronics, so she doesn't have to look at them
-Get rid of the piles of books, Parts Express cardboard boxes, etc. Bookcases full of books are fine (and a good room treatment, BTW) - piles stacked up on the furniture aren't.

Your other option is to leave things as they are, and try to find a woman who appreicates your current set up. That is going to be very difficult :worried:, but if you find one you'll can be sure she's the one for you! :smlove:

If my wife's tastes are anything to go by, that room is a big :nono: for women.

That said, I think it looks great - lots of interesting gear that just invites one to sit back and enjoy some great :music: !

Men and women are just different.

Bobschneider's suggestions are excellent. [Say, Bob, you aren't the guy of the same name who is related to a Kim Schneider, are you?]

I don't think that's me. I have a cousin Kim, but she's never been named Schneider (she's my dad's sister's daughter). My daughter's legal name is Kimberly, but she's gone by Natasha (her middle name) since she was 2 days old.

I think it sez:
"I heart and abode are filled with love for my speakers, but I might have some lust left over for you. Babe."
My girlfriend and I were discussing what stuff I would be bringing to her house (once I get the rock and officially propose and such). I was honest. I told her I have some stereo gear. But hey, I don't have a couch! Plus, she has a huge basement, about half of which I will claim as personal space. And I cleaned her garage last weekend. Yes, I mean her literal garage. It was not a thinly veiled car and parking analogy.

I loved your "feet to air" solution to place that square boxes...:)

I'd definitely lose the Xmas and Halloween lights, and get a book case for the books (as already mentioned) as well as lose odd boxes and “junk” (Store it somewhere)

The upside down speakers with legs sticking in the air is a bit much. (Remove the legs and cover the “top” with a runner type table cloth?)

Have a stand and/or hangers on the wall for instruments, and are you really using multiple amps for them? It can’t look like a practice room. and be inviting for guests, of either sex.

The stereo needs something better that says “I belong here” Not “I was dumped here”, Closed cabinets maybe, but look at the sideboards I have seen with granite tops and looking like the gear belongs or is on display. A larger curio cabinet might work for tubes (We are considering this option)

Having "Man Stuff" isn't a kiss of death, but it needs to be reasonably neat (Piles of stuff can’t be explained away by “Pardon the mess, I’m working on a project”) and dovetail into the décor.

We have 10 larger instruments as well as even more smaller instruments in a 6 x 6 “corner “ area (more open with an open stair on one side) none of them look like they are overcrowded.

We are working on the stereo gear and record/CD storage, but we have a plan forming for that.

Hope some of these observations help. Not trying to tear your space apart, but give constructive criticism. (Assuming you do want the ladies to be impressed) For most women, neatness and/or purposeful placement mean a lot, even if they are unable to accomplish it themselves.

I asked a female what she made of the room, she thought this may be a showroom for used merchandise. The amount of speakers is probably very similar to a lot of our listening rooms. If it isn't audio gear, and you have not used it in six month's, ebay could be a good solution and put money in your pocket. One day I will follow this advice myself.

The system probably sounds great, but if you invite a girl in, do you expect her to sit on your lap on the first date? A second armchair would not go amiss.

In a classic case of synchronicity (some might call it audio karma), I happened to see the photo I posted on the Polk Forums today and thought it oddly appropriate for this particular topic. I have no idea of its origin.

For the record, I do own a couple of SS Mac pieces, but I don't really use them. I wouldn't mind adopting an orphan MC-225 or MC-275 (of any vintage) myself, though.

Lucky that you are in Florida and not California. I sure hate to see the photo after another earth movement we are known for out here.

BTW, does anyone know who the owner of this photo is? I have seen that for years and always wonder if any of them are really hook up to anything other than power to heat up the room...

Sure like to get one of those McIntosh made in USA sign...
