now a simple question but one I have been wondering about.
They must pull the beds from the listening rooms RIGHT?
Cause in none of the photo's have I seen a bed.
SO where do they put all the beds???????????

ejfud 03-25-2007, 07:02 PM I knew I should just have skipped reading this. It just makes me feel worse about not being able to make it this year.
Fran604g 03-25-2007, 07:26 PM Great, thanks! I hope I can to do it some year!
Wigwam Jones 03-25-2007, 07:39 PM SO where do they put all the beds???????????
You're not going to believe this, but they were in a couple of dumpsters out back. I'm serious. I'll bet they timed this to coincide with 'new mattress day' in the hotel. I should have gotten a photo.

Njord Noatun 03-25-2007, 08:05 PM I had a system lag while on there too......just to let ya know... Of all the pictures in that blog, I can only remember the first one: All of a sudden the rest of them really didn't seem to matter anymore. Is that what they call ADD?:scratch2:
Thanks for sharing!

Wigwam Jones 03-25-2007, 08:29 PM That's way to funny
I just hope they didn't charge AK for removing the mattresses, seeing as they were apparently going to do it anyway.

thedelihaus 03-26-2007, 12:24 AM As always, a pleasure and a delight to read your delectable scribbles.
You seem to push that pencil, and the words come out nicely.
A nice read indeed!
Negotiableterms 03-26-2007, 04:49 AM Great writeup and great photos!
That first shot is Jennifer, Grumpy's daughter, also known as the finest ticket-seller in all of audio. The average attendee was unable to say "no"... or anything coherent.
I had a great time, met a bunch of great people, and am really looking forward to next year.
Special thanks to Dave, Nancy, Ernie, and Linda for a fantastic job, and thanks to RichPA for 5 hours of switching DACs!
Kegger 03-26-2007, 08:14 AM Killer write up Wiggy! You need a new JOB my friend!
Awesome pic's and writing, way to cool there buddy!
Markus111 03-26-2007, 09:25 AM Great job Wiggy! You need to find a magazine to write for, or they need to find you. Thanks for the kind words, and also for the fine pictures. I was a total dope and forgot to take any pictures myself! Having too much fun, I guess.
Mark

Sandy G 03-26-2007, 01:31 PM ..The pic of the hotel had one of the upper-floor windows open...Was that the room where they were "roof-testing" Bose, Soundesign & Yorx stuff ? <grin>
Wigwam Jones 03-26-2007, 01:44 PM Damn, I missed that Bose demo Wiggy!!!

I got called in to work - a support call from a customer. I'm on call 24x7, but I don't usually get called on weekends. I worked until 11:30 p.m., then went to bed. Woke up at 2 a.m. when my roommate's friends came rolling in drunk. Seems they had gotten into a fight outside a RO bar, one of them had his head split open, blood ever where. They were very drunk and screaming and yelling at each other. Kept me up until 5 a.m. Went to bed, got up at 8:30 a.m. Sunday when the customer called back with more problems. What a weekend. To say I was ticked off would be putting it mildly. This is what happens when you rent a room in a house with others.
thedelihaus 03-26-2007, 01:45 PM Ahh, your blog just made my bookmarked top-20 (but there's only 13 in it so far...).
You are now alongside Jalopy Junktown, Coop's Positive Ape, HooptyRides, JesseGersten.com, Maakies, Head Injury Theater, Still life With Cranston richie, AudioKarma, another berloved audiosite, The Great Motorcycle Pizza Tour, Retrocrush, and Craigslist.
I will visit often to partake in your posted delights...
merrylander 03-26-2007, 02:53 PM What a write-up! Sorry we did not connect as it was great to meet so many friends face-to-face. The organizers did one fantastic job and their good humour in the face of a hectic two days deserves plaudits from all sides. Those Ninja elevators were something else, no bells, they sneak up on you and are gone before you can blink.
Rob
RichPA 03-26-2007, 08:44 PM Thanks, Wig, great pics and writeup. Looks like you got a couple of the Great DAC Shootout :)
Strangeband 03-26-2007, 09:18 PM Thanks for the vicarious rendition of the fest for those, such as myself, who could not make the trek. That was a fun read, and the photos tell their own stories.
speedle 03-26-2007, 11:55 PM Hey, I just realized that that first picture is in my room, when she was coming around to sell the last of the fifty-fifty tickets. I shoulda bought more!
RaymondLeggs 10-21-2007, 07:37 PM How are the prices at the AK fest? I gotta get me some of those LP's those things are calling me and so are those receivers... I think I am going to start drinking and chasing strange women... :yikes:
Strawman 12-12-2007, 10:38 AM I just couldn't take seeing RaymondLeggs' name anymore everytime I come to this section.
That is all.
bigstereo 12-12-2007, 06:30 PM And I for one thank you for that. It gave me cause to go back and read Wiggy's write up again. Which is very entertaining. I especially love the part about the "Sansui Drop" and "Bose Tune Up".:lmao:
Also reading it over again puts me in the mindset to make more of an effort to get my ass to AKFest08.:thmbsp:
