Look what ADS someone got for under $400...

ADS L1230s, $380.00 final bid.

These were close to me- I'd have sols some plasma if I'd have thought these would sell for this price.

But then I'd have no place to put them....

Ahhhh. so be it, so be it....

A warm and happy congrats! to the new owner!!!:thmbsp:

Now that's a nice pair. I think I would have found room.

You're probably right.

Let's just hope it's a neighbor, and I can go over and listen to 'em.

Heck, I've got Dahlquist DQ-10s, ADL L630s, Boston Acoustics A150s and A200s, and soon to have AR 9LSis.

These would have been nice, but then I'd be eating Ramen for a month and a half, and I'd feel like a glutton.

I've been blessed with my good fortune.

Maybe Birddog, or soundweasel got 'em?

They definitely need to be appreciated!

While that's a good price but they rarely go for over $600. It's the 1530's that generate more money and there was a pair that just sold for a little over $1,000. The 1530's are considered one of the finest sounding speakers ADS ever made. But some think the 1530 doesn't sound good. I've never heard them so I can't give an opinion.

The seller has a couple of recent, very negative feedbacks.

Probably scared off some bidders at a higher price.

Nice speakers.

Cheers. Snade

Lots of folks are afraid of the size of these too.

You can get, let's just say for conversation sake, 80% of the sound out of a less-massive ADS speaker, like the comparatively diminutive ADS L810, or L880, even the L1290 tower is smaller.

You may lose some sound quality, but you gain lots of livingroom foot-real estate.

Nonetheless, I'd like a pair. Who needs free, open floorspace?!?

Those 1230's came from the free section of the Boston C/L.

I missed them there by a matter of minutes. So, the seller (Marlboro Mass)
drove to (Natick MA) and for her 25 mile round trip made $380.

She's the one who got the real deal.

Best,

Paul :thmbsp:

She's also selling a set of L780/2's for BIN of $425! I have both sets and know that the L1230's are infinitely better. I'm also torn to think that the 810's sell for more. They just are not worth the hyped $$$'s when compared to the L1230's (which really should sell in the $400--$1000 range). Also, while wide, tall, and heavy . . the L1230's are not very deep so can work surprisingly well in many tight spaces (although it would be ashamed to try playing these wonders without adequate projection and separation spacing).

That buyer did get a steal!
