For those who've compared them, please oblige:

1) Did the overall "sound" of the solid-sate Mac amps change all that much from the early 1970s to the late 1980s? Seems like the 1st generation SS amps had a more-tube like signature (based on what people say).

2) Also, were the lower-powered ones better sounding than the higher powered amps?

3) Which SS amps are more desirable today and why, which ones should some steer clear?
