Found a dept. store today, really more of a 6 storey book store with miscellaneous other items for sale, including a pretty nice (and good-sized) music department. Great indie section, a pretty awesome jazz section (from what I know, which isn't much), thin on twang, and a small but impressively diverse selection of vinyl.

From the close-out CD section, I picked up Dr. John's Dis Dat Or D'Udda and Ben Harper & The Blind Boys Of Alabama Live At The Apollo for the equivalent of around $6 US each.

The real catch for me, though, was a 2 lp 180g virgin vinyl version of Sly & The Family Stone Anthology. Wasn't particularly cheap, at around $29 US, but I didn't care. Never ran across this in the states on any format. It brings the shit- I can't wait to get back to my turntable in Redneckville. US of A.

Very cool!

But kinda wondering how a virgin vinyl Sly & Family ended up in Taipei. They must have good taste.

Well that's about the farthest distance anyone I know has gone to buy music.

Very cool

Jeez amigo, pick up two, mail one to me. It goes on the expense report as "miscellaneous gratuities".

Are you having fun yet?

I made the mistake of letting one of my twins know they also had 2 Neubauten albums on vinyl. Looks like I get to go back.

Did you get the Dr. John so you'd have a more up to date "St. James Infirmary".

Mr. 'toze--have a safe trip back and hopefully the rest of your trip won't be a PITA!

Nice haul -- that's going to be the longest haul, ever, until we start hauling stuff to and from space.

When I went back to pick those up this afternoon, I also noticed a soundtrack that Neubauten scored for some flick, but I let it stay there.
