My first Led Zeppelin Classic Records reissue album arrived today. 200 sweet sweet grams of Zep III except I can't listen to it till tomorrow. I can' stand it!!
Anyone out there with any of these albums? I read that they are better sounding than the remastered cd.

Would that be the 45RPM version or the 33RPM version? I remember Classic Records had released the complete studio albums in a large metal case on 45RPM and that each album required at least 3LPs.

I read that they are better sounding than the remastered cd.

I doubt that the bar is set very high as far as getting better sound quality than the remastered CDs. I would imagine that those LPs do sound significantly better...of course the quality of your analog setup will also be a major factor too.

This would be the 33RPM version. I didn't know they were also available on 45, that's kinda cool.

I believe the 45RPM version was only available as part of the limited edition boxed set which is sold out. That was close to $1000 I think.

The only Led Zeppelin LP I own is Zoso from Classic Records on 200g vinyl. Sounds great and weighs as much as a medium pizza. Nice!

I was never much of a Led Zeppelin fan in the '70s, but I've grown to appreciate the band. I'm wondering if I should broaden my collection...Houses of the Holy maybe?

BTW, the box set of all the albums on 45 is undergoing a second pressing at the moment. You can preorder it for "only" US$700.

I've been looking for it on 180 g vinyl and a few sites have it listed as available but they are constantly out of stock. :tears:

I too would like to experience how good the 45RPM's are without purchasing an expensive box set. I have many Classic 45 Lps and many, many Analogue Production Fantasy Jazz 45's. The classics are a mixed bag on improvement over the original pressing or 33 1/3 (Classic) releases, which makes me hesitant to spend that kind of money. The Analogue Productions pressed at RTI are some of the best vinyl I have ever heard in my life. Considering the source tapes of Led Zep I highly dought they will turn out uncompressed in the bass and drum and Plant's voice will likely still overload on the mic. Sorry to be such a buzz killer but, I have the seventies full set of original Japanese releases and a full set of 33 1/3 Classics and a few Euro. Atlantic originals and none of them satisfy my ear compared to a good jazz record of the 50's or 60's. I do recommend the box set of complete remastered studio work that was released in Sept.'94, it's cost effective and I seldom recommend any CD over any vinyl.

Happy Listening! :beatnik:

Yes, do get "Houses of the Holy". It will hold up well to ZOSO. In fact the first five records were outstanding IMHO. I'm a huge fan and still remember seeing them back in '73, they were HUGE live! :thmbsp:

Happy Listening! :beatnik:I saw them live in June 1977 at the L.A. Forum on the first and last nights of a six day stand. That was when Rock was larger than life and Zep was larger than Rock N Roll. The first night they had a two hour, yes two hour, break before their encore. The crowd never stopped chanting and screaming.

Wow, they were gods to me back then and I view anyone that has ever seen them live as semi-gods ;)
That must have been one hell of a show! Did you keep your ticket stub?

Houses of the Holy is probably my least favorite Zep album.

I or IV...definitely my favorites :)

Speaking of 200g, I have Dylan's Live at Royal Albert Hall set from Classic Records that I got as an Xmas gift, I haven't played it yet, just sitting there in the box :(

That must have been one hell of a show! Did you keep your ticket stub?I have both of them along with a couple of hundred from other concerts. 1976/1977 I was a freshman in college and made extra money by scalping concert tickets. Long story made short, I had 6th row seats for opening night and it was cool. :thmbsp: While something I'll never forget it wasn't my fovorite concert of all time. My all time favorite concert was seeing the Boomtown Rats at the Santa Monica Civic followed closely by The Pretenders, The Clash, U2-1982 concert, and X all in small venues.

Living where you do certainly gave you the opportunity to catch a lot of shows.
We (my buddy and I) just missed seeing U2 back in 1984 in Rotterdam. We were there doing the backpacking across Europe thing.

Turns out I have a 1975 stub... not sure what happened to '73. Well there you go, I must of been higher than I remembered.

Have smiled upon me and a copy of Led Zeppelin I mysteriously showed up in the mail yesterday. :thmbsp:

It's the 200 gram version from Classic Records. Man is it heavy and flat as a pancake, not even a tiny blip in that sucker. Oh and it sounds terrific as well. I have the remastered CD's from 1994 and the vinyl sounds better to my ears. Looks like II and III are up next.
