I am finally cleaning the inside of my pioneer sa-9500....I get scratchy noises. Anyways I understand how to clean an open style pot(pic on right) but what about the volume one that has protective cover? like the one in the pic? The one on the right I understand, the one pictured on the left is the back of the volume. Protected by the housing.

I imagine I just unbolt the volume base but I dont want to back those two little bolts off just to have 300 springs and confetti shoot out ot the inside....leaving me to try to figure how to get it back together.

The next cleaning question are my 2 and 3 postion flip switches...they have a housing as well. Do I clean them from the front or remove the housing?

Finally this knob rolls smoothly unlike all the rest. I belvie it is the balance but do not remember for sure off the top of my head. Here is a pic of the back of it...Should I use any deoxit on it...if so where? I see no moving parts.

I know this is very basic stuff but this is my first time....I finally found a local supplier of deoxit...Good tip whoever said guitar shops. Take care and thanks!! :thmbsp:

PS. The little power indicator light is out....they just dont make things to last!! I thought it would at least make it 50 years.*sarcasm easy guys*...Anyways the value I read on it is 8v 0.05amp...is this common? I am hoping rat shack might have it so I can get some instant gratification going!! If you can halp I would really appreciate it.

I cleaned tons of switches and knobs when I was selling/repairing gear like this on the early 90's.
You'll notice the housings are sort of "crimped" together and have small openings at the edges. Spray right through while turning knobs, switches and controls so that the juice gets between the plates. I don't recommend taking them apart, this easy much much easier and it works.
