I picked up a pair of these at a garage sale this morning on the way to work. I haven't hooked them up yet as they are still in my car :). The are a little dirty and one of the dust caps are dented but other than that the appear to be in good shape. I was in a hurry and they were only $5 so I didn't give it much thought I just snagged them.
Does anyone here have any experience with them? Should I spend my time cleaning them up or just drop them off at the goodwill on the way home :)

$5 is about right. The SM series was Infinity at its worst. Just no real substance. That said, the SM-100 may well be the best of the sorry lot since it is smaller.
Darn, that sounds brutal. Always give em a chance for an audition.
Infinity does and has made excellent sounding speaker systems.

Agreed! I had a pair of SM-122's. IMO, the drivers were not the problem, it was the poorly designed cabinet. In stock form, they managed to be boomy and bright at the same time. I think the cabs were the cause of the boominess and Infinity compensated by boosting the high frequencies. Others here recommend adding internal bracing and changing the length of the port tube but the results were not audiophile and so I decided not worth the effort. Although I had $60 into my pair, I gladly gave mine away.
On the plus side, they are very efficient and can produce tons of volume. I measured 115 dB from an 85 watt amp.

Thanks for the feedback folks. For the price I think I'll clean them up and give them an audition. My son was saying he thinks he damaged one of his speakers on his cheap combo unit. Perhaps these would make a good upgrade for him considering their efficiency.
I'f not perhaps the drivers would make an interesting project.

Yes, they would be fine for the young'un's stereo.
