View Full Version : Remote for Optimus STAV 3250

Maybe someone here can help. A couple years back I rescued this Optimus STAV 3250 from the dumpster and of course the remote wasn't right there with it. :nono:

I bought a Radio Shack 5-in-one remote and we also tried a buddy's 8-in-one, and while you'd think a RS remote would control a RS product, it seems we can't get it to work the volume or tune the radio portion. We're using code 0395, the only one that seems to work, but it's actually the code for an Optimus amplifier, not a receiver.

Has anyone here had success programming a Universal remote for one of the Optimus units that could share the code (or brand of remote) they used or does anyone have an original remote languishing for lack of a receiver?

Thanks!

Nobody? The main issue to me is it could be wrong remote or code or perhaps it's the controlling circuitry in the receiver. Before I troubleshoot, it would be helpful to nail it down which it might be.

I'm sorry I don't have a clue what you might do.

Thanks Bully. I guess I could meter the motor or try to read a control signal when I hit the volume on the remote. I can't help but think it's a wrong code/remote thing, though.

A lot of the audio-video receivers were re-badged Pioneers... try the Pioneer codes.

Thanks! I tried the Pioneer codes and Kenwood too, but no luck. I went through all this a year or so ago, I think I tried the Search method as well as direct entry of codes. Since 0395 is an amp code, not a receiver, it may not be the right code. But, since I can't find any other code that works at all, maybe it's the receiver's volume circuitry.

If someone has the code for any other Optimus models, I could try that. Or hope for an original remote to pop up. Looks like troubleshooting time is staring me in the face. Just trying the lazy way first!

Teac, perhaps?

Well, looks like it might be in the receiver after all. I pulled it out of the stack and opened it up. Hitting the remote, I can meter voltage changes for up or down volume. The motor itself meters open. Now to try to get the motor off without having to remove the entire volume control.

I'll post back if we get it going. Thanks for the suggestions, Injara1!

A flaky motor was the culprit all along. I can now do everything except switch between AM/FM and tune. The lack of tuner function is part of why I was chasing remote codes around. Can't have everything I guess. :dunno:
