View Full Version : Head East
MitsuMan 04-18-2007, 02:47 PM I have been searching, and searching for the original Flat As A Pancake released in 1974 on Head East's own Pyramid label. Does anyone own this gem? Plenty of the A&M releases are available but the only original I've found is trashed. :tears:
N E 1?
rocdad 04-18-2007, 03:10 PM I had the CD back when I was in college. I sold it to a used record store so I could eat(drink beer). Of the six CD'd I brought them, that is the only one they would take. I was hungry(thirsty).
Sorry, I had to contribute. It's not often that you see Head East mentioned.

Drybasement 04-18-2007, 03:18 PM Never been any reason....to not like Head East. :D
I don't believe I have what you're looking for as I think mine is an A&M copy. I'll look through my vinyl when I get home and check again.

I never knew the album was released on any label other than A & M, as my vinyl disc was.

HarryB 04-18-2007, 05:48 PM Yup, I have that album. I bought from a used record store in Atlanta.
I thought that was their only good album. The only song I have ever heard from them was never been any reason.

You have the release I'm talking about, or the A&M release that everyone has? :headscrat
HarryB 04-18-2007, 06:10 PM I think mine was the A&M version.

sharksoup 04-18-2007, 07:28 PM Oh crap!!
I know I have the A&M LP somewhere in my collection (has the checkerboard background), but can't immediately lay my hands on it.
Now I'm gonna spend the whole evening looking til I find it!!
IXLR8 04-18-2007, 07:53 PM Wikipedia had this- "Champaign, Illinois. They released their first album, [[Flat as a Pancake]], in 1974 on their own record label (Pyramid Records) selling all 5,000 records and 500 eight-tracks produced. A&M was impressed enough to sign the band and re-release the album in 1975 which went gold by 1978.
Flat as a Pancake would remain their most popular album spawning two charting singles, the well-known anthem "Never Been Any Reason" and "Love Me tonight", both written by guitarist Mike Somerville"
So finding a original album may present a problem but you should be a great place to hunt one up MitsuMan. If I run across it here it's yours.
Art K. 04-18-2007, 11:08 PM Like a couple of others I couldn't help but reply. Don't have the record and haven't for many years but I did see them live 3 times. A couple of times when I lived in Illinois in the '70's and once in Idaho. They were fun. Good luck finding the record!
tdst51 04-22-2007, 03:07 AM Try this guy- he might be able to help you. I think he was an original member; lives here locally. :smoke:
