I am seriously thinking about changing my Lexicon mc12b v5 for one of these 2 beasts.

I use an external upscaler for all video leads and I would never, ever use a processor for video anyhow.

I looked at the manuals of both and they seem identical except for the hdmi.

Is there any hardware that makes the 136 better than the 135.

Also what is the opinion in the Forum about these 2 models when compared to the Lexicon mc12b v5. some say the Chip in the lexicon is superior.

I went from the Lex MC-12B to the MAC processors. PM me to discuss offline.

Maybe ericbee could post a review in the Equipment Reviews & Opinions forum. :)

If you play music and are seeking a more analog experience the MX series will deliver the performance of a McIntosh stereo preamp such as the C45. All of the same circuits are used in the MX135 and 136 such as balanced ins and outs, phono section, and true analog modes for Stereo, 2-Channel and External inputs.
The digital audio section of these is based on a 24/192 design which also is an upgrade to many sources with digital outputs as far as digital to analog conversion is concerned.
The MX136 adds HDMI switching for four inputs as well as analog video to HDMI conversion. Legacy analog sources may be converted to 480i, 480p, 720p, or 1080i digital HDMI using the internal 136 scaler. This is a custom software design that uses some of the technology from the future VP-1000 video processor.
When your video sources are scaled to digital HDMI the scaling is performed in a very fast way so the sound and picture remain in sync. This high speed scaling will also show advantages in rapid motion video with a lack of smearing that is so common with most scaling solutions.

Well guys, I pulled the trigger on a couple of weeks old MX119.

Why, I only have 3 inputs, 2 satellites and 1 DVD player. The CD goes to a C2200 and Video goes to an upscaler.

So less inputs, smaller body size = interesting. And from what I understand its EXACTLY the same as the 120, 135 and 136 excepting the video portion and balanced outputs.

The 3 most important are the F L and R and very little info goes to the surrounds. A quality RCA interconnect will be just fine.

That is a nice system! Are you using the Pass Through feature?

Thanks,

Ron,

I don't physically have it yet, but when it does arrive, I will use the passthru definitely.

The C2200 really warms up the B&W 802D's.

My thinking was that I really listen to Stereo only and don't care about SACD or DVD-A and my Cd collection reflects that.

Lets face it, the MOST important channel in a surround system is the Center channel where I've got an Hm2D and can use the Balanced outputs for center right and left.

The Surrounds are where you hear the Indians coming over the pass and don't really play that big a roll. Not saying that a pair of 804S's from a MC207 should do the trick, but its no 501's with 802D's.

Also the size of the 135 is overwhelming and smaller is better for me :)

I am not writing an equipment review for the MAC or the LEX. If the mods want me to post it here I will but, I have been asked not to comment on anything MAC due to my "sour grapes" whatever the hell that means, so I will not.

I have responded to the PM and the poster has my opinion, hopefully HE can post what HE thinks after using the 119 and comparing it to his Lex.

Misterdoggy,

I really like my MX-119, (I had the TM-1 installed also). You have a great set up!

(I am lusting over the 501s!)

Me too!

I am also enjoying my MX119 with TM-1 card. Hopefully I can upgrade from my MC252 to MC501 someday.
