I have This Sharp tape deck RT-3388A that had some rubber wheels go bad from a cleaning i did. So i found one on E-Bay from Canada a RT-3388 no (A). I get it here to do my swapping of parts and find the Capacitors and the power transformer differ quit a bit, The one I'm trying to fix(RT-3388A) is full of Nichon caps (Blue) and the newer (RT-3388)one has all Marcon caps (gray)and the transformer looks like it's a cheaper version of the (A) model. The tape drives are the same though. which is what I'm swapping around.
The (A) model has a lot better sound that the non (A) are the Nichon Cap's better than the Marcon Cap's? Does anyone know these decks any help would be great. Thxz J Rogers

P.S. The transformer are mixed up the middle one left is the RT-3388 and middle one right is the RT-3388A

Hi there,

A long time has gone by since ypu posted but it came up when I searched RT-3388A.

Did you ever find a place that could supply the rubber bushing that fits on the flywheel spindle between the two bearings?

Thanks.

Iana,

That rubber part's inavailability has signaled the death knell of this series of Sharp cassette decks.
