Ok so i had some time on my hands to make a mix tape today, and while i was doing this i also had a chance to look at some of the tapes i'd made in years past. I have to admit that some of the track orders were pretty terrible. One had Michael Jackson, Rick Springfield, and Led Zeppelin running back to back.

I know it's personal preference when you make your own mix tape, but have you ever looked back and said Why did I put "abc song" next to "xyz song".

I made my tapes stick to a certain genre or mood... rock-out tape, mello-mix, big band jazz, hip-hop etc.

Did I read in the news somewhere that mix-tapes are making a comeback among young people?

Really? as in using real cassette tapes......not just downloading mp3's into an Ipod?

well, considering the amount of cassette threads on AK i've seen in the past few weeks along with the price that some tapes are going on eBay, I'd have to say people may be feeling nostalgic.

Back in the '80s and early '90s, I made about 150 or so of these mix tapes. All were recorded on top quality tapes and equipment and I still have them.

Not too long ago, I decided it would be a good idea to play them all back in the order that I recorded them in. So I started listening to them while I walked on the treadmill every morning.

All I can say is this: what the hell was I thinking? It's not just the order of the songs, but a lot of the songs themselves are not worth the time it took to record them.

On the other hand, some of the newer ones (1992/1993 time frame) are not quite so bad.

But the mix CDs I've made over the past few years definitely are better. Maybe I've learned a few things over the years after all!
