I was given a Pioneer RT-909 about 10 years ago by the original owner, and he only ran about three tapes through it while he had it since new (woo hoo!!). I didn't get the NAB hub adapters though, and started searching for them on Ebay....I was shocked that they're going for the $50 range for a pair of rubber hockey pucks! Why so pricey? I don't get it....please clue in the clueless :)
Thanks!

You're not the only one that doesn't have a pair, and lots of people want them.

Actually the aren't rubber; they are plastic. But if you are looking for the matching adapters for any particular machine, they are going to cost you. The reason is that they haven't been made in 30 years, and everybody with a particular machine wants to have the matching adapters. Simple supply and demand...
New Teac quick-change NAB Adapters can be found for as little as $30, if you are patient. These are better for every-day use anyway, as these are much easier to use.

there's your next busuness opportunity, but if you get into manufacturing them could you improve them so the little tabs that supposed to hold the real tight do not break off. I have two sets of these and those dang tabs are cracked on all four. Good luck with your search for sub $50 set of NABs, but when you find them..., sweeeet

I paid $67 IIRC for a set of Revox NAB adapters back in 1980 or so. Adjusting for inflation, this is about what a pair of these cost on the bay, whether you buy them complete or buy the NAB and the Aluminum 'handles' separately. So adjusted for inflation, this is $179. These are very easy to use, have the ability to manually move the tape and look great. I do not care that they do not match my tape deck.
