There is a fellow that wants to bid on a item I have for sale on ebay. but is from singapore. I dont want to ship out of the usa since the current usps fiasco. here is his message.
(Hello I am from Singapore and I am an active genuine ebayer since 2002. I am interested in your & understand that you do not ship out of US. As I have a US shipping address in California, I appreciate that you could accept my bid for the item. I pay by paypal and you can refer to my positive feedback for your ref.)
I am concerned whether there are any issues regarding this?
THANKS IN ADVANCE JIM

I don't think there are any particular issues with receiving paypal from overseas; I've done it (including from Singapore) with no problem. That doesn't address the shipping issue, though, so make sure you've got that worked out - and that the buyer understands what is necessary in terms of time and cost - if you decide to go ahead.

I get lots of overseas Paypals and rarely have issues. I'd just make sure the item is insured in case something goes awry, like loss or damage.

Thanks Rich. I am a little concerned about paypal protection if his shipping address is not confirmed with paypal. and he has been inactive since february on ebay. And this item will probally sell for more than 1k I would hate to take such a loss if things went south.

If you decide to sell your item to him, I think Paypal protects you if the buyers shipping address is the one on file with Paypal. I dont think they will protect you if you ship to the USA and the buyer's on file address is in Singapore. You may want to contact the potential buyer and have him update his shipping address with them, and also maybe E-bay as well.

Absolutely not!
Paypal is horrible to begin with, but no confirmed address with an item over 1k is nonsense. :nono:

Yep, same here...the shipping part is what I would be concerned with. I would make sure it is a confirmed PayPal address and require a signature.

Thanks guys for all the help. I have decided that since his lack of current ebay activity and the recent hijacking of inactive accounts. and the bidder wanting me to ship to a different address than where he is registered at coupled together is more of a risk than I care to take. it seems the potential for problems outweigh the possible benefit in this case.

Update on this auction. I did sell this item, but I recieved an alert about the fellow that had originally wanted to pay from singapore and ship to another address in the usa from ebay this evening. With advise not to respond to emails or buy or sell anything with this fellow.
So it looks like the advise you guys gave me was good advise. If it looks like a potential problem run like hell.
THANKS AGAIN FOR THE HELP. REGARDS JIM
