Hello guys,

I just come back after 2 days in south of France, and I cannot open the MS300 tray; I did try to power on and off, even to help slightly the tray...nothing .

The HD works fine however.

Please, help, what can I do!

Jean-Marc

Did you try unplugging your MS300?

Unplug for a few minutes then try again. If that doesn't work, you'll have to take the top off and see if a cd is jammed inside - you should be able to wiggle the cd a little with the drawer shut, machine off.

Thank you my friends, I wanted to unplug it, but before ,I've waited letting the MS300 HD play; and then (20 mn perhaps) I tried again and it worked again: I don't know why and I hope it's not a bad sign.
BTW, I am in the ripping period; I noticed that the 3 LED blinked at the same time as I shut down the MS300, and that for more than 7 or 8 hours( one night long in fact). Mike from AC and the Mc Intosh MS300 support tech said it was normal because it was due to the conversion of all the music I ripped, even when power off. Perhaps MS300 was too busy when I powered tonight after 2 days non using it (week end)?

thanks again, I really appreciate this forum because guys like you can immediately help me, as I do when I can.

Hi Jean-Marc,

If it were me - and the MS300 is still processing - I'd just go back to the South of France! Loved touring there by Hyeres, Ile de Porquerolles and Grimaud. Much nicer than the Monaco/Nice area.

I'm sure the MS300 will do just fine, too!

Cheers,

David

Has anyone noticed that the CD drive "whirrs" with certain CD's ?

Makes alot of noise on certain cd's for me. Then others silent.

The explanation I got on what you are describing is that if the CD hole is off center or the CD is not balanced, the extra noise you are hearing is the laser tracking servos trying to compensate for the imperfect CD. This makes sense to me.

I did not want to hear any noise from my MS300, so I just put it around the corner in my bedroom. Close the bedroom door and now my listening room is dead silent, problem solved.
