Oh yeah, it's free too.

Go get it if it's a tube unit! Worth it for the tubes alone. Of course you'd have to recap it, and if you pull the amplifier from the console, you've got a disposal problem...

I take 'em completely apart and unscrew the wood pieces to separate everything. That gets it down to where the trash guys will pick up what I don't keep. I like keeping some of the original solid wood pieces for other wood projects, though. But I sure don't want 'em for the cabinets! They take up too much room!

Well, it looks like someone beat me to it and is trying to flip it for 100 bucks.

The local thrifts here take stripped consoles if they are in good shape. I guess people use them for furniture projects. That way you don't have a disposal problem.

A good way of finding those is Craigs List / Furniture/ keyword: record.

People don't know what to call them so they describe it as cabinet or.. something else, with "record player" in it.

Those two units are not the same. Check out the tuner/pre. One is 'vertically' oriented, the other, 'horzontal'.

My bad. I guess it's one of those coincidences that fooled me.

I saw one at a church rummage this past Saturday. Raising the cover revealed a near mint H.H. Scott 299B amp and H.H. Scott tuner, I forget the model number. It's a gorgeous piece of furniture also! Got it for $50.00.

If it's intact, it's easily worth the $100. Telefunken made some nice consoles. The tubes alone could be worth about that much. I don't think much of the TTs usually...but the amp and tuner!!

I love small consoles but not this size. I'd strip the electronics and discard the cab in the next annual green day. I got one Fisher ( with an X200B, R200 tuner) and one Heathkit (AA100 int amp) cabs that I am gonna refinish. Cost me zero bucks....

I have 9 consoles right now. Some tube, one from '52. You want one, come and get em...

BTW, both the Telefunken consoles referred in this thread that are in Edmonton are SS.

tube consoles I ALWAYS go for . . . the *really* nice ones stay complete. if the cabinets are beat, I gut 'em so I have toys to play with.

even solid state ones (ESPECIALLY the german ones) CAN give up great full range speakers. I have a very similar grundig to the one (originally) picutred - TT is junk (cheap construction, plastic :yuck: ), but the tuner and speakers are very nice. AM/FM/SW - 6X9 isophon woofers & tweeters. I'm keeping it complete (sentimental value - given to me by a friend) but will probably upgrade the TT some day . . .

it is very hard to beat the German full-range drivers when you go Open baffle and DIY in general. beautiful midrange and very high extention.

This Stromberg Carlson console is one of the most well built pieces of furniture i've ever seen. It houses a push/pull EL84 integrated amplifier that is highly regarded by several members over on the tube forum.

I really wanted this just for the amplifier, but this one is just too nice to cannibalize.
