This question is for Yamaha 2040 owners. How much would it take for you to depart with your working unit? I have been noticing the prices for this unit on the auction site but for a rare and coveted unit it only sale between $175to $250.

I only have one CR-2040 that has been totally gone through, cleaned, adjusted and aligned, with all new lamps. The case was stripped and veneered in Rosewood and I am not about to part with it. But for the record, similar CR-2040s with all of the above treatment and new veneer easily bring $375.

I picked mine up off ebay for $160 and love it...
Sound is so smooth and the baby really runs cool as a cucumber.
I wouldn't part with it at all.

I got one from Rob that he had gone over and put new veneer on. I'm sorry, but for a beautiful receiver Yamaha put a dark ugly coat on it. Rob put a light colored wood and it really adds looks and value. Part with it? The money would be gone and then I would be pissed everytime I looked over in the corner where it sits. That green glow and the VU's are just too nice in the bedroom.
