A true historic piece. I believe it to be the first techno album ever. Shortly thereafter folks started blending disco/house music with CTI-type techno...

Tapehead47 11-18-2006, 12:29 AM The more I listen, the better he gets. Maybe it's the beer.
I have one album by Rory that I recorded about 10 years ago from CD to cassette. About 5 years ago I transferred it back to CD from the cassette. I never wrote the name of the album down. It starts with "I Ain't No Saint" and also has a live acoustic version of "Pistol Stompin' Blues", "As the Crow Flies", also a studio cut of "Calling Card", a live cut of "Bullfrog Blues", "Don't Start Me Talking", live acousic solo "Nothing But The Devil", and other songs, including a couple of great Blues-Rock instrumentals.
Well, I want to find the CD again but after searching the web I just can't find this particular CD of the dozens of Gallagher CD's I've checked out. The song titles aren't the same. Anybody out there know what CD I'm trying to find??? Man, I've spent hours matching titles and songs and no luck at all.
This album is just too good not to have in my collection at CD quality. The CD copy of the cassette is okay, but just don't quite make it. Rory is one of the best blues/rock guitarists I haven't discovered yet. Although I've listened to this album on and off for about 10 years it just hadn't hit me really hard until recently. I'm blown away!
I like bluesmen like Walter Trout, Gary Moore, Danny Gatton, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray, Duane Allman. Especially the LIVE STUFF!!
If you have this CD I'm sure you know just how impressive this musician is. Somebody out there knows what I'm trying to find. I'd appreciate any help.
My next CD purchase will be "Big Guns".
Thanks in advance!

JDaniel 11-23-2006, 10:15 AM Think I'll play Lyle Lovett - Step Inside This House. One of my all time fav. albums, introduced to me by Opt80 a few years back.
The most mercurial of Texas singer/songwriters, Lyle Lovett has assembled a two-disc homage to mentors and fellow travelers--a homecoming of mixed emotions and uneven meditations on Texas land and soul. The first disc is the most spacious--including songs by Vince Bell, Guy Clark, Robert Earl Keen, and Michael Martin Murphy--while the second concentrates on Walter Hyatt and Townes Van Zandt (who died in 1996 and 1997 respectively). The meticulous and mostly acoustic layering of dobro, steel guitar, and piano sonically celebrates Lovett's Lone Star roots; his band even jaunts into western swing on Walter Hyatt's "Teach Me About Love." And Lovett's voice sounds warmly weathered with the respect and affection he has for the material. But the material is perplexing. Eric Taylor's "Memphis Midnight/Memphis Morning" never drives home its lonely impressions; selections from David Rodriguez and Willis Allen Ramsey never draw from the depth of those writers' imaginations (at least "Sleepwalking" is a rarity in Ramsey's small but legendary catalogue); and Steve Fromholz's "Texas Trilogy" never transcends aimless local color. But the two traditional pieces, "More Pretty Girls Than One" and "Texas River Song," number among the album's finest surprises. A similar grace and clarity animates both the title track--one of Guy Clark's most lambent but unrecorded compositions--and two of Van Zandt's greatest mysteries: "Highway Kind" and "Flying Shoes."
