I was going through some cassettes that a friend gave me, looking for music for a Christmas gift basket for work. I happened on this jazz swing music that I thought would fit the coffee house theme I'm to create.
Anyways this music is pretty good stuff which I never heard before.Bands like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Royal Crown Revue,Cherry Poppin Daddies. Its all I've been listening to for the last couple of days. Makes me want to dance and I never dance. Anyone else like this music?
I hope to find more music gems in the 200 cassettes I have to go through.:)

I played in a wedding band for several years that kinda sparked my interest in swing music...but I was listening to the older recordings like Goodman and Shaw and Dorsey. With the exception of Brian Setzer, I haven't heard too many of the "new" swing bands...unless you count Gap ads.
But I'd be willing to give 'em a shot....any recommendations?

I've only heard a few tracks from the bands I mentioned. From what I read on Amazon, 'Cherry Poppin Daddies' may have lyrics in some songs that are offensive to some people.
I'm not familiar with old swing jazz. I think this music in comparisson is probably more up tempo.
Royal Crown Revue
-Zip Gun Bop
-Walking Blues
Big Bad Voodoo Daddies
-Mr. Pinstripe suit
-King of Swing
-Jump with My Baby
-Jumpin Jack

Here's a different spin.
Check out Asleep at the Wheel for some great Texas swing, especially the live album from back in the 70s with "Ain't Nobody here but us Chickens", "Route 66", " and others.
Tons of fun!

That's a good one Andyman. Asleep At The Wheel "A Tribute To The Music Of Bob Wills And The Texas Playboys" is another good one. Ray Benson was born for texas swing.
