OvenMaster 06-19-2007, 07:06 PM Everything was fine until I saw that price. I don't want to finance this fella's retirement. Pass.

meggy 06-19-2007, 07:13 PM Destine for the pawn shop.
RichPA 06-19-2007, 07:15 PM Who could resist "real out of this world sound"? :D
cabinover 06-19-2007, 07:16 PM I personally know this guy, great lad. He seems to believe that particular receiver is worth big $$. I tried to buy it once for shits and giggles to see how it sounded. There just wasn't any dealing, he wouldn't even come up with a price at the time.
I wish him the best of luck.
I'll sell my 1801s for that kind of change though.
cabinover 06-19-2007, 07:17 PM No affiliation though.
cabinover 06-19-2007, 07:17 PM Besides I don't think I could talk you folks into it :deal:
0luke1 06-19-2007, 07:25 PM The dude DECLINED an offer!
Crack must be cheap in VT.
KingBubba 06-19-2007, 07:26 PM That receiver is on our list of 100+ watt receivers and actually has a reasonable reputation. However, I passed on one at the flea market about a month ago for 25 dollars. That guy is living in a dream world, but more power to him if he can get his price.
rickr15 06-19-2007, 07:52 PM I have heard one of those playing the matching 901's that the owner bought new with it. Properly placed as per Boses instructions it sounded pretty good to me. But not $850.00 dollars worth.
similost 06-19-2007, 08:12 PM splane to me dhis..
best offer... is this something new on the bay? Listed at BIN, $850, OBO.. One guy offers 50... second guy offers 55.. or, even just one guy offers $10...then time for offers is up.. doesn't the second guy get it since he had the best offer? Or, the single guy for the 10? ...I see no reserve set... ummmm.. isn't that an auction????
cabinover 06-19-2007, 08:21 PM I don't know. I'd say the second guy should get it. The seller can decline offers though from what 0Luke1 said.
0luke1 06-19-2007, 08:24 PM Yes, the seller can decline offers. I bought a set of books on an auction set up like this. Worked for me.
But seriously, $850?!?
sixt8mopar 06-19-2007, 08:30 PM I really feel sorry for the PL-630 he is also selling...Included a picture of it packed up and ready to go.
Check out the packing job on that bad boy.:thumbsdn:
macaltec 06-19-2007, 08:33 PM The offers are good for 48 hours. The seller can decline any offer and I believe the offeree can withdrawafter a certain amount of time (not 100% sure of that though). I tried it on a couple of my actions and it was a big PITA. Bunch of lowballers thinking it was a yard sale or something.
similost 06-19-2007, 08:39 PM Thanks for explaining how the offers work.. Had no idea, never saw those kind of sales there before..
soundweasel 06-19-2007, 08:44 PM His use of multi-colored, various-sized fonts and the incorrect use of quote marks in his posting stirs an almost uncontrollable desire to hand over all my money immediately...not!
Actually, it's a cool looking receiver, and I wouldn't mind owning one, but that price is nuts!
Put down the crack pipe, and step away from it!! :jawdrop:
chillwolf 06-19-2007, 08:55 PM The best offer deal works like this, You make an offer, the seller has 48 hrs. to accept or decline. If he accepts your offer you are committed to buy that item, no backing out. The same as having a winning bid on an item. I got a TT that way, the seller had a buy it now price of $52.95 or BO, I offered $30, he accepted, it was mine.
Clmrt 06-19-2007, 09:05 PM It's certainly a *colorful* description. I find that very annoying.
I'm probably very annoying.

EricC 06-19-2007, 09:50 PM I saw one local for $100 and passed. I trusted the seller as well. I like the look but inside looks looks like a rats nest.
Fedallah 06-19-2007, 10:04 PM I like the look but inside looks looks like a rats nest.
I was thinking the same thing.
EricC 06-19-2007, 10:29 PM I was thinking the same thing.
If I see one cheap I'll pick it up, leave it on Rob's (merrylander) front porch and run.:D I am sure he would have a blast working on it.
Arkay 06-19-2007, 10:45 PM The outside of that receiver looks rather nice, IMO. :scratch2: Would look very nice with the horizontal black-and-wood Dual 505-2 I got the other night.
I got a little tired, though, of reading about how that guy was a businessman (in living color, complete with writing errors :nono:).
I'll be :jawdrop:  if he gets that price! Knock the zero off the end, then maybe.
2DualsNotEnough 06-19-2007, 10:48 PM I remember being at an audio show in L.A. around 79,and they used that receiver paired with 901's in an audio visual demonstration put together by Bose.I thought it sounded pretty damned good, and I like the looks of it alot.It reminds me of a JVC VR-5551 I owned, cosmetically.
Hes not the first person on Ebay to think they have struck gold.Hell probably keep relisting it till it sells.

sauvong 06-19-2007, 11:12 PM A couple of years ago there was this receiver and a Pioneer SX 1250 at a local thrift. They were both marked $49.99. I had about $70 in my bank account and could only purchase one of them. I picked the Pioneer SX-1250. I made the excellent choice!

jrsh92 06-19-2007, 11:29 PM Wait, is that a solid state receiver with impedance selection?
Doctordirt 06-19-2007, 11:51 PM Frist was honesty
titanstats 06-20-2007, 12:01 AM Personally, I just love Bose! I can usually sell it for quite a bit, and I'm never tempted to add it to my collection. :D
jrsh92 06-20-2007, 08:20 PM Apparently Bose has made some good stuff. Lots of people who have objectively listened to Bose stuff think so... but I have seen them as a bit of a joke ever since I compared the $150 Triport headphones to my $100 HD-555's and realized the difference from the Triports to the Sennheisers was like crappy earbuds to the Triports...
