Now all you need are some nostalgic speaker boxes hanging on poles beside each chair....

Looks cool, man. I just upgraded to an Optoma HD-70 projector. Previously had the Z2 from Sanyo.
Your Z4 is 1280 X 720 native, so while it will accept 1080i and scale it, it is a 720p projector.
Video games are great on a huge screen. My Xbox 360 just got the 3 red rings o' death, so my PS3 has been seeing more duty.

Don't get me started on Microcrap and the red rings of death...I love the 360 but they're customer service is awful.
Hmm thanks for takin' the wind outta my sails on the P.J.....Now I've gotta upgrade! Damn.

Sorry, didn't mean to rain on anyone's parade. The Z4 is an excellent unit.
You got a heckuva setup and you should be happy! Mine is only 1280X720, too. Will upgrade to 1080p projector when they hit 2 grand or less.
By the way, starting July 5 Microsoft is warrantying all 360's for 3 years. My reapir is now covered under warranty. I was really upset last week, happy now. The coffin (cardboard box they send you) will be here in 2-4 days. No charge for shipping either.

Nothing to apologize for my man. ANY excuse to upgrade is a good one, although I find the HD quality on the Z4 exceptional (way better than my 42" plasma upstairs), if I can get better (within reason) I will! I just didn't know that the unit was limited to 720p and now I do so thanks AWM.

Can you show some more details of the steering wheel stands? Are the foot pedals integrated into the stand? More info please! Pictures too!
Great idea. I have been thinking of doing something similar but it would have to be somewhat portable.

I've been drooling over the new 1080p projectors for awhile now...prices are definitely starting to come down as well.
->This<- (http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_14_1/feature-article-1080p-3-2007-part-1.html) is a great article on how lower resolution display devices scale 1080 signals.
BTW, very nice setup, and as much as microsoft has bad customer service, I'd prefer that over Sony's dismal offerings so far on the PS3, smacks of dis-respect to a a gamer that spent over $500 on a new system. No contest in game selection between the 360 and ps3...but Blu-Ray discs keep getting cheaper and cheaper...

Sorry for the delay, I haven't checked in in awhile.
The wheel mounts are homemade outta MDF and an old leather jacket, the pedal stand is for my 5'5" wife (yes that's right wife, she's super cool and loves Forza 2) my pedals just lay on the floor (I'm 6'3").
Also I've included a shot of my new wall mounted component stand and the two bar high directors chairs I nabbed at a yard sale for five bucks each! Good overflow seating for b-list guests!

very nice!
I like the Idea with the steering wheel set-up, it looks like you have the nascar driving position. My friend just built one out of wood it looked like hell and only lasted about a month, mainly because it was a big heavy wooden atrocity(sp), but it was real fun with gt2 while it lasted. we put a sub under the seat for some butt rumble.(not the messy kind) we used a plastic seat you can get from jeg's or summit for like $30... if any body uses those things in a actual race car that goes faster than 30 they have a death wish. but its exactly the same as the ones used in arcades. Not nearly as confortable as yours look. Are you having problems with the steering wheel tray moving around when things get intence? If so, I just thought that you could fill the arm rest pads with lead shot than cover the lead with foam. and cover the bottom of the tray with rubber, you would prolly have to hunt some material down. or maybe find a rubber backed carpet mats, and drape them over the chair's arm rests then stick grip tape to the bottom of the tray. I have grip tape (non slip tape you can find at home depot .ect) on my sub box in the trunk of my car. It makes horizantal motion very gripy. I can really toss the car around and the box stayes put, it impressed my how well my idea actually worked for once. still it would really be nice to have a solid mounted wheel to crank on.
I diddnt even know they had 1080p projectors. thats nice. are there no windows in that room? or is that what the sheets are for?
loose the directors chairs thats just cruel. haha

The wheel bases seem to stay put just fine,(they weigh about 35lbs. each with the wheel, so they don't really move at all).
The HT room is in the basement so I've got 100% light control, the curtains were our solution to painting, the walls were white, which is not very conducive
to home theater as it reflects light, so we put up the curtains to darken the room and give it a more theatrical feel.

A couple of snaps of the HT bar after I had the guys over for a "300" premiere in HD!

So I nabbed a set of Drive-in Theatre speakers (Thanks Avionic!), a Toshiba HD-A30, a Samsung BD-P1400, the whole Rock Band kit and kaboodle and some Sweet movie memorabilia and a huge Dead Pool poster to round out my HT room!
For now...

Looks like fun!!
I especially like it when someone does their room so that all the components aren't right at the front by the screen to distract from the picture/experience.
PS: About Sony...they replaced my PS2 WAY beyond warranty with a refurb for a meager $35 fee or something like that. And, Microsoft covered my GF's son's 360 not long ago for red rings of death even though it was technically out of warranty.
