Hi all!
I've got an Infocus X1 projector (DLP) whose bulb is starting to get near its intented lifespan. When that time comes, I thought it might be worth upgrading rather than get a new bulb, now that low-end projectors have come down in price so greatly.
I've *really* liked my X1, and have everything set up for that, so I'd be leaning towards getting another Infocus DLP projector in the same product line.
Looking at Infocus's web site, though, I'm not sure what the "new" equivalent is to the X-series line though. I know that the X1 was superceded by the X2 and then the X3, but what's the current equivalent? The IN24/IN24+ and IN26/IN26+ are perhaps the most similar in terms of outward appearance, available inputs, and resolution, but they appear to be categorized as business projectors. The IN72 seems to be their low-end "home entertainment" projector, but it's 16:9 and the vertical resolution is only 480 pixels. [Their higher-end "home entertainment" models have higher resolutions, but at considerably higher cost]
Anyone know if the IN24/26-series projectors considered suitable for low-end home entertainment use, or are they designed for business graphics/computer applications only? (I'd pretty much only be using the S-Video and component analog inputs)
Perhaps I'm in the minority these days, but I actually prefer having a native 4:3 ratio rather than 16:9. I'm okay with SVGA resolution, but XGA would be nice; I would like to find something with a higher usable brightness than the X1 though. An HDMI or DVI input would really be nice, but I suspect that's not going to happen in the low-end price range.
Any suggestions? Or would I be better off just keeping my X1 around a while (and get a new bulb when the time comes) and wait until LED projectors or other technologies come around?
