I have his exotica releases on CD. Found two VG+ LP's of his today. A Taste Of Honey, and Martin Denny In Person. Both are excellent, but I really like a Taste Of Honey. Found two others. Gigi with Mary Tyler Moore on the cover, Otto Preminger Exodus, and Lucille Ball Wildcat. All are in Living Stereo. Unusual finds for the thrift. Great shape.

Quiet Village was 1958-59, IIRC. The girl on the cover was a comely lass named Sandy Warner, "The Exotica Girl".

I've got quite a lot of Martin Denny and love both of those albums. Don't pass over Exotic Sounds Visit Broadway. I know it sounds cheesy, but some of his best work is on there.

Best one overall for me is Hypnotique. The title track is one of my favorite songs of all time. Simple and quite memerizing.

When I owned an Eico HF-81, I would put the remastered Denny CDs on to blow my friends' minds. Tubes just make his stuff sound amazing. That Eico added sparkle to all the CDs I played through it, actually. Go figure.

I grew up on "Quiet Village" & "A Taste of Honey"...Martin was one of my faves. Still is. I do like the cooly sophisticated sounds of "Honey" a bit better than the birdcalls of "Village", but any of it beats Christina Asparagus, Titney, Fiddy Scent hands down.

I much prefer Denny's A Taste of Honey (which made it up to only #50 in the Summer of '62) ... to Herb alpert's version (which hit #7 in the Fall of '65) ...

I have found Denny's version on only one CD ... a budget 10 song Greatest Hits package ...

I first started listening to this stuff after buying couple Mondo Exotica Compilation CD's in the early 90's, loved it....I've got about eight LP's now, mostly Les Baxter and Martin Denny. I've notice more of them in the thrifts lately but all the albums look like they've been used as coasters or the ex tatooed them with a permenent FU.....(cool links by the way)....

THere are probably a few thousand cassette and R2R decks represented by the 'regulars' around here. Heck, I might account for that many myself.

Then there are 8-tracks, Elcasettes, 4-tracks...
