Panasonic 52" HDTV doesn't work

I just snagged a 52" Panasonic (PT52LCX15) lcd projection tv that doesn't work. People I got it from says the bulb is out in it. When turning it on, the power light just sits there & flashes. No codes or anything, just a slow on-off flash. I haven't pulled the bulb out to look yet, but this doesn't sound like a bulb out to me. Any ideas without having to take to a tech and pay $$$ for them to tell it isn't worth fixing?

A relay clicks inside, but there's no sound or anything. I'm thinking power problems...

Kind of an expensive experiment if that doesn't fix it?

I drug it into a local shop & tried a new bulb and it worked. Instead of paying him the $380 he quoted, i took the tv home and found one online for $100. Its happy now and living in the basement, replacing our old 50" Mits (non-hd)
