Mystic 07-11-2007, 11:54 AM Does Soul deserve its own play list? I think so. We can include Funk and R&B here as well, but we'll call it Today's SOUL Playlist.
Here's a genuine deep Southern Soul classic to start things off right:
Doris Duke - I'm A Loser, 1970 (Canyon Records)
meggy 07-11-2007, 12:30 PM Great idea, could be an excellent source for discovery. Here's something pretty common though;
Gladys Knight And The Pips / Midnight Train To Georgia
Mystic 07-11-2007, 01:08 PM meggy - I'm pretty sure that there are still folks out there for whom Gladys Knight And The Pips would be a discovery.

Mystic 07-11-2007, 03:49 PM Curtis Mayfield - Back to the World

00Robin 09-17-2007, 09:48 PM I NEVER tire of 'I Wish It Would Rain'~ David Ruffin blows me into loveland with the first plaintive line...
'I Could Never Love Another (after Loving You)'~ Temps again there too
'I Want A Love I Can See'~ if Smokey screamed it any louder or more fervently ...just somebody dare and try this one for me. James Jamerson has a bass line that will tear your heart out...
And I can't help it 'Ain't Too Proud To Beg' has some congas that will send me to the moon and back every time.
The Funk Brothers...if you EVER get the chance to get the DVD its really cheap and its new,just seeing and hearing the new voices,young voices with SO MUCH SOUL it makes me ache watching them...singing Motown's best with all of the Funk bros. that are still with us.
And I am DYING to find out who sings and what the name really is of "Fantastic Voyage" I hear it everyday on Detroit's kiss Fm,but I need some names,or the band....
SO much soul...I get stuck in it and can't even go further,there's way more..
