Two good-sized boxes were left at my door.
Now I've got to move a pair of JBL L100 off the HPM-900 and then the HPM-900 off the dead subwoofers.
Have no idea where to put the dead subs.

No pictures?

What are these dead subs you speak of :)

Hmmm
Got one unpacked and hooked up but don't know about it. I notice the amp hums and I'm not getting much output.

Well, now it is woofing. Time to bring the other one in and set it up.
The dead subs are a Dahlquist PDQ-1500 and a no-name Cinema Audia System 15-inch.

Bummer. The second subwoofer (http://www.a-neutronics.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=59)
Is completely dead.
Contacted seller (who has 100% on over 24K sales). He suggested opening it up and checking connections. I had thought of that, but did not in case I would return it (which is what I really want to do).
LOL I just bought a big Sony subwoofer off of eBay. BIN. I have been very impressed by the little 8-inch Sony subwoofer I got for the PC stereo, it seems more powerful with its 75-watt amp than the a-neutronics "no-name" subwoofer.

The big, 15-inch subwoofers I have that are not working are a nice Dahlquist PDQ-1500 and a no-name Cinema Audio System.
The Dahlquist I shorted the driver, replaced it with an MTX driver I had, then later the amp began to hum.
The CAS, the amp seems to have died, but I have not opened it up to check connections. It worked before I moved, maybe it was jostled. It was great for adding the rumble and boom crash in movies.

Both of the A-neutronics "no-name" subwoofers have problems. One is dead, and the other amp hums audibly. I even tried a two-prong adapter plug to see if there was a ground loop. The subwoofers are on separate outlets.
The seller is trying to come up with solutions, basically doesn't want me to return them.
What I have done is to buy two Sony subwoofers. The little 8-inch SA-WM200 I got for the PC stereo has really impressed me.

Man what bad luck!

I see a trend towards huge qc issues with the mass market electronics, tvs, phones, computers, microwaves etc, it seems 1 out of 2 have issues.

But the stereo stuff. Jeez we wait like little kids for it to come! Hope it works out with the seller Pete. And good luck with the Sonys.

too bad about the amps in these things. had one of the drivers out, and it is a pretty stout woofer. very wide half-roll surround, long-throw.

The seller offered to refund my money AND not have me send them back.
Jeez, one dead sub and one weak sub (but it does sound OK when I can't hear the amp humming).
I've got two Sony's coming this week. I'm about out of space here.

I decided to open the dead one up again and take a closer look in some better light.
A connection is unhooked. Too short to get, and I cannot find my needle-nose pliers.
I'm gonna go get one, since I need to pick up laundry and stop at the pharmacy and the Ace Hardware is in the same strip mall.
Will report later.

Couldn't get to the connector with the needle-nose pliers.
So I decided to get forcefull and pull that flat wire going into the speaker enclosure. Didn't give, so I removed the woofer. Had to remove the silicone sealing the hole through the box housing the amp. Then pull up the bit of slack that that flat wire connector had. Voila, got it connected nice and firmly into its socket.
Buttoned her up, no power. Remove all the screws again (10 of them). This time I looked for any other loose connectors. Jeez, found two loose.
My hand and fingers are sore from removing and then screwing the screws, but the subwoofer is working!
This one doesn't hum, either.
