I just bought a NOS AcutexM312STR from a buyer who has 4 more of them in stock.
cartridgedb.com report the following datas :

Freq. resp: 20-35.000hz
Channel sep. : 30db
vtf : 0.9-1.9 g
stylus : shibata line contact
compliance : 24x10-6

The cart specs are good and the 1 related forum post i been able to find says it sound really good....
Original stylus arent avalaible anymore but (if its worth) i could buy a few complete carts as the price i payed is quite low...
The cart will be mounted on a dual 1239 or on a 1218 i just won off e-**y so the compliance should be ok with the lighter 1239 arm..but what about the 1218 ?
Comments and suggestions welcome as always
peace

I say "Go for it if the price is right!"

It should do just fine on a Dual 1218, which has a very good and capable tonearm that should be considered medium-mass. If the 1218 can track the Shure V15III and the ADC ZLM (both higher compliance carts than the Acutex) with no problem (and I have done it) then the Acutex should be no problem at all.

Make sure you align the cartridge properly. Performance will suffer greatly with even a slight misalignment due to the Shibata stylus. It is very small and has a basic "linear-contact" shape which is more alignment critical than elliptical styli. Also, keep your records as clean as you can - for the same reasons.

Price is 25 $ ...looked like a good price to me...
Im still thinking 'bout buying another one as styli arent manufactured no more and a NOS Shibata is definitely higly priced than 25$......
Anybody out there got 1st hand experience with this cart ?

PS : the shure V15III compliance is 22.5(x10-6) while the Acutex is 24(x10-6).... isnt it higher compliance for the M312 ?
