The UPS man (Santa?) shows up today with my Cambridge A500/S integrated amp that I just purchased from BrianB. This is a gorgeous little amp - silver faced, 65 Watts RMS into 8 Ohms, slim-line remote, five line inputs allied to a tape monitor, biwireable speaker terminals, and tone controls with defeat. It sounds even better than it looks (for a SS amp that is), drives my JBL L-110s effortlessly and with authority. From what I understand, this amp is currently being replaced in Cambridge's line-up, so there are some good closeout deals to be had out there. Thanks once again Brian!

On a side note - my NOS RCA tubes were in the same shipment. These will replace the stock tubes in my Jolida JD-100A CDP. Saving these until this weekend when I'll have time for some serious listening! :banana: :banana:

Wow Dave! That's a sexy lil unit there ain't it? Me likey... Can't wait till you hear those RCA's in the Jolida.

Dave, drop whatever it is that you're doing, forget all about Thanksgiving, and put those tubes in NOW!!! :D

Great amp,Dave Cambridge makes great stuff.My 300SE CDP is a wonderful unit.Haoleb has one also.I bet your amp would sound great with a 300Se

Nah i have the D300. regular model. got it from audioadvisor for 175 when they had them on clearance to make room for the SE models. i like it though, wish i had the NAD 541i though :D

The partner to the A500 has arrived. I received the D500se CDP last week from BrianB and just like the A500 - this is one good looking, well built piece of gear. I wasn't sure how much play time was on it, so I let it play continuously for about 36 hours before doing any serious listening.

I have to say that this is a very good sounding unit, not quite up there with the Jolida JD-100A, but I wouldn't expect it to be. I did perform a A/B test against my Pioneer Elite DV-47Ai and was very impressed with how much better the D500se sounded on redbook playback, which is really saying something.

I was so impressed with this equipment that I have promoted it from the playroom to the bedroom. Unfortunately, there's no room for my JBL L-110A's in the bedroom, so now I need a better set of speakers. It's a vicious circle I tell ya!!! :rant:
