Just recieved Sony 50 inch plasma

But It did not come with a stand. All this after I specificalyy asked the lady on the phone if it came with a base or stand, she even asked one of the tech guys, and told me it did....

Now, is it me, or are these things awefully expensive??? I need a tabletop Plasma TV stand tha willl hold this 50 inch 97 lb TV, any suggestions? I'd like to get it locally, and not wait for shipping, as the tv is no on the floor, leaning against the wall.

I can't use a wall mout, as this tv is going into the cove over the fireplace....

yikes. Gota be careful with those plasmas too, stare at em wrong and the screens crack

I would look up the model of your set, or look in the manual and see what stands are available that fit it --and of course note the model number of the stand. Then call around audio/video shops, even places like best buy and circuit city and see if they have one in stock or can get you one.
