Did any other artists record on the Apple label? If so, are they collectible?

... James Taylor's debut (IIRC) was recorded on Apple. There was also Mary Hopkin, who had a Paul McCartney-penned hit (the name of which escapes me). Badfinger also recorded on Apple, I do believe (well... my Badfinger greatest hits CD has the Apple logo on it).

And of course Paul McC's first solo album, and solo albums by Geroge and Ringo. John, too, I guess...

You mean Mary "Those Were the Days" Hopkin? Do you also mean "Sweet Baby James"?

All Beatles members had singles and albums on Apple as well as Jackie Lomax, Billy Preston, Mary Hopkin, Badfinger, James Taylor and many more. I would think they all would hold some value to any collector or lover of music. I have all the Apple singles collected and am happy to answer any questions you may have about release dates-etc. that you may have. The first singles to be released on Apple were: Hey Jude b/w Revolution by The Beatles, Those Were The Days by Mary Hopkin, Sour Milk Sea by Jackie Lomax, That's The Way God Planned It by Billy Preston and Carolina In My Mind by James Taylor.

I've had this for over thirty years. It's a real departure for the Modern Jazz Quartet. I have never seen or heard of it anywhere else but in my collection.

Yup! I dont' have it, but I do remember it. They also had another Apple album called "Under The Jasmin Tree". I do have the MJQ "Django" album on Prestige that I play when I need to relax.

Thanks Celt. I like it too much to ever sell it, but I was wondering if it was a rarity or not. Just not the kind of thing the MJQ would undertake.

Pretty dang rare on vinyl. The few albums they did on Apple did get re-released on CD in Europe on the Apple label when it was revived, but other than seeing them listed, I never laid eyes on them. I think MJQ was given free reign to do whatever they wanted on Apple (as were all Apple artists). But this made the label appear to be a curio or an oddity to most distributors and programmers and alot of good music was ignored as a result. I often wondered if the themes on "Space" (Venus-Mars) were what gave Pauly the idea for his album "Venus and Mars".
