Here's a forum where you can break the ice, and begin posting. Let us know about you, your gear, and what's going on in your life.

Oh, and Welcome to AK!

What a good idea to make a place for new members to say hello! Kudo's to the person (s) who devised and implemented it!

Folks, each new member is supposed to post their own THREAD. No objections to posting in this one, but the idea is to introduce yourself in your very own thread! I'm thinking it'll be fun five years from now to look back at your intro thread and compare your thoughts coming into AK with however you wind up.

For example, I just moved ponderbear's post to its own thread. If anyone else would like the same, lemme know!

Negotiableterms - thanks for the gracious offer and if you will move mine to its own thread I will be grateful. Sorry about the confusion.

Just a note...

The idea behind the Introduction Forum is for members (new or old!) to post their own threads about themselves, their gear, or their interests.

Many members have simply appended their intro to this thread, where it will languish largely unnoticed.

This thread is now Locked, to drive you to post a new thread in the forum. :thmbsp:

STRANGE:scratch2: ok who picked the lock on this thread seeing how its suppose to be locked.

I did (since I have the keys :D ) as a few folks thought having this thread locked was a bit *un*welcoming. :nono:

So, I'll just keep an eye on it, and move Introduction posts out to the Forum as their own threads when they appear here - which was why I locked it in the first place. :sigh:

New guy to the forum and another JBL nut. I am down to 7 pairs of various sizes and shapes. My main speakers are S3100's. I look forward to some audio banter!

Just picked up some of my first "vintage audio equipment". I am hoping that some of the expierenced elders of the great web site will tell me how to care for these. I have a Kenwood KR-9600 with the original box, a Kenwood KVR-970B and a Pioneer SA-950 amp and pioneer TX-950 tuner. I use a set of Cerwin Vega D-5's to listen. Any info on how to take care of these would be greatly appreciated.

hello fellow audio enthusiasts.this is my first post. I joined audiokarma, a few months ago by a fluke. looking for something or other, i landed here where people were describing vintage sound as being warm, sweet, full , and a myriad of other adjectives. So I jumped in. what should I buy? merrylander said yamaha, bully said pioneer. Now a few months later I have about 30+ pairs of speakers and about 13 receivers mostly vintage, on the economical side. I have picked up a few things along the way. thanks to you all.:

Hey Todd, maybe it's the thread title that's leading people to post here instead of in their own thread. Maybe you could change it to something like "if you're new to AK, this forum is a good place to start posting".

Welcome, guys, but the idea is actually to use the forum to post a new thread introducing yourselves, not to add to this thread.

Hi, about time I said hallo. Have enjoyed reading all posts, seems there's a lot for me here. Have been scrounging and fixing a variety of receiving and audio gear since the early '50s. My collection includes Hammarlunds, Hallicrafters, National, Collins, R1155's as well as Sansui, Marantz, Sony, Yamaha and a blurry heap of junk. I enjoy all good music but confess to being a bass addict. Presently listening to Concierto de Aranjuez, but next I'll be putting on Simple Minds. My best speakers are Paradigm Monitor 11's, now hooked up to a Dynaco SCA-80. I enjoy scoring at yard sales, and have bought and sold on ebay.
Regards, Lou.

Hi all - new to the forum. I'm not really a hardcore audiophile, but know what I like. I think the bug started when I putchased a pair of Polk Audio M5 at a garage sale in college. I was blown away by the sound. Ever since then, I've been a Polk guy. I also am intrigued by setting up the "perfect" Home Theatre and finding some cool vintage electronics. Glad I stopped by!
