This sticky is a coincidence as just the other day I was thinking that after joining AK over a year and 1/2 ago, I have never introduced myself. So much for good form. I'm a 70 year old retired public school administrator who now tries to earn a buck day/swing trading the stock market. I bought my first sound system as an undergraduate which consisted of an old Browning mono FM tuner played through a Symphonic tape deck. The deck played in stereo and came with a stereo tape of "The Overture to "Taunhauser". I was enraptured, I was there, I was Wagner. Stereo was unbeatable. From there I went on to various systems, the one I kept the longest was a Carver receiver and a pair of Spica TC 60's. And I used to buy only one system at a time, something that changed dramatically after I joined AK. I knew nothing about audio systems except you pushed a button of turned a knob and there was the music. Now, thanks to AK and the congeniality if it's members I know how to do basic stuff and have become a more discriminating listener. It's been an interesting and enjoyable voyage with interesting and enjoyable people. Now, however, I need to scale down. So I shall stay with my current set ups: Listening room one; Yamaha CR 2020, Hughes AK100, Miracord Elac 46, Wharfedale W70E, double Original Large Advents. Listening room two, Sansui 8080DB and either New Large Advents or A/D/S L520. Workroom, Pioneer SX 636 and ADC 303ax. Garage, Sansui 551 and EPI 70.

Hey Archie good to hear that 8080 is still singing, got it's kid brother, a 7070 back to life, just need to veneer the case.

Yes Rob the 8080DB is looking and sounding very sweet in it's place in the additional room we just had built. It may be the room acoustics but that Sansui rivals my CR 2020. Now if only I could find a prominent place for that sweet sounding and good looking R-100 I got from you........Right now it's doing backup duty.
