Greetings all,

My name is Walker and I live in New England. Basic info is here at my user profile (scroll down for a brief bio): http://audiokarma.org/forums/member.php?u=13272

I came to this fine place after my Yamaha CA-810 that I have owned since 1978 needed some help. After using some search engines I found AK and signed-up...lurked a bit, and then took a dive-in with posting a question on some repairs. Luvvinvinyl was my first respondent and the rest is history.

My audio interests are Yamaha, McIntosh and I have succumbed to the World of Tubes (gee thanks Jay!! :D )

I appreciate the support and assistance of my fellow members. I do post some non-audio items in the Off-Topics forum from time to time...usually musings and hand-wringings about life and nature. We have two teenage children and I'm preparing for their departure for college soon enough, which for me, is going to be difficult (enough on that for now :tears:). Off-topic stuff includes threads...

Welcome to all.

PS: I hope to someday own a Mellotron M4 (more here: http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=108489 ). My usual Mellotron avatar is taking a break while I pay homage to Mr. Tesla's Wardenclyffe Tower.

Good thing you mentioned that. I thought you finally got a Mellotron and now had your sights set on Wardenclyffe Tower. I'm wondering what's next? :D

Any Yamaha fan is a friend of mine.

Mellotron fan = Moody Blues fan then too?

Indeed, some...but not all. The Mike Pinder years, mostly.

Big fan of the sound of the Mellotron as well, but I'm mostly into digital gear, so I'm going to have to settle for my emulations for now...until I become a big famous rock star...

Ah, very good then.

Me, I'm sort of a die-hard/evangelist fan of things.

As an example, The Simpsons. Even though some think it was best up to around season 9 and awful now, or some think it has roller coastered through the years...I'm a die hard fan, and it's all good. Even what some may consider the worst is better than a lot of other stuff out there. All about perspective I guess.

In fact I feel the same way about Yamaha, mostly because I've had both top end and bottom end and that includes not only vintage, but even a really modern HTIB I briefly had. The Yamaha was just superior quality and sound compared to the other brands even in the HTIB world. A main deciding factor is the fact that Yamaha sold with the HTIB a real true full featured receiver that also sells an isle or two over.

Focus...yes, nice to have another Yamaha fan around AK!

Understated humor just abounds around here! Howdy!

Walker's a good guy, especially with his Macs and Yammies (although I've always been more of a Chamberlin man myself).

I've met a bunch of really good folks here at AK, and Wajobu is one that I am very proud to call my friend. Jay

...I thought it was your new FM antenna! Mind if I hook up to it? My Beam Box is good, but not that good! :D
