In the land rush here in AK's "fastest growing forum", I guess I better stake my claim. :D

<stands, clears throat>My name is Todd <everybody say "Hi, Todd"> and I'm an audioholic.

I've always had an interest in music, just never had any truly nice gear to listen to it on - didn't know what I was missing. I was introduced to AK by a friend (Thank You, Fotno!) who found this site while looking for info on how to repair some AR speakers.

The speakers in question were AR-3's - I had been using them as end tables for years (they make really nice furniture!) because they did not work. I had bought them at a yardsale for $20. Fotno's stereo blew up, I gave him the AR's to fix if he could, and here we are.

My wife and I were listening to CD's through the television speakers at the time - best stereo in the house. :smoke: Needless to say, things have changed since then. :music:

AK has really turned out to be a lot more than music in my life, though. I have met some truly excellent people, and gotten to know a lot more that I hope to someday meet. Someone else said "my second home", and I agree. This is a place I retire to every day to relax and enjoy myself, and recharge my batteries. Better company than this is hard to find. :)

I'm 42, with a wife of 18 years and a 5-year-old daughter. We own a photography shop that has been in her family for three generations. We do lots of AV type work as well, and I also run an ISP. I'm active in our Community Theatre, and act, direct, teach, and do production design. I'm partial to low brass (tuba player :D ) and am partial to martial music.

I've got a few systems put together, but like many here they constantly change (depending what I might find at the thrift this week!) so I'll only list one that's fairly constant:

Yamaha YP-D8 turntable
Kyocera DA-710cx CDP
Macintosh MAC~1900 amp
AR-5 speakers

I also recommend you check out http://ozmoid.com and avail yourself of a little of Fotno's wisdom.

You were using AR-3s as end tables? :lmao: Now that is nice furniture.
Is fotno making progress with getting a working computer together? Tell him hi and we wish him internet connectivity.

:lmao: That "short drive" is about three hours - and we're both crazy enough to do it on a regular basis.

I have to say, it is worth it to spend a day or an afternoon at Bill's house - fine gear, fine music, fine food... and a very fine friend. Thank You, Bill. :)
