Hey Guys and Gals,

My name is Rob and I found AK after my father passed away and left me a pair of Sansui SP-3500's and a sick QRX-777, both of which he bought in Germany in the 70's.

I am a computer programmer and live in Pennsylvania. Before spending much time on AK, my main hobby was building and tweaking computers.

I found AK soon after graduating college with a bachelors degree in computer science, so it was refreshing to step away from the computer scene as a hobby since it is something I spend all day doing for work.

Now I get excited about audio equipment instead. Mainly Sansui stuff, as that is what I started with.

What I enjoy most (besides the music) is restoring gear, especially recapping crossovers and gear.

After pouring over specs and conversations, I went a little berzerk at flea markets, garage sales, eBay, craigslist, etc, so I am at the point now that I don't have room in my townhouse for any more gear and its time to start enjoying what I have, and parting with things that don't really 'do it' for me. (Ill be honest, the live-in girlfriend drives the selling-gear force)

I have made my fair share of mistakes but the people here are so helpful and courteous that I plan to stick around a long time!! I get on AK every day now.

Geez, YAR (Yet Another Rob). Don't sweat the mistakes we all have done our fair share.

Welcome to AK, person with many x's in his name. Just for the curious here, can you post a phonetic pronunciation?

About 12 years ago when my journey on the internet began the first place I had to register for wanted a username.

I wanted to choose 'Aphex', which comes from the name of one of my favorite musicians. The system, however, required an 8 character minimum. So I just added 'filler' characters, and tried to keep them symmetric!

Hence XoAphexoX. The tag has just stuck with me since.

So I guess if you wanted to refer to me as something other than Rob in spoken word, you could simply say 'Aphex'

I have no problem pronouncing "xoaphexox." It's "Rob" I'm having trouble with. :scratch2:

So you're from Leb'non, eh? Nice to know another PA'ian here. :thmbsp:

Welcome! It's nice to hear your background and nice to know, as hakaplan mentions, that another Pennsylvanian is on the boards. Good luck with your Sansuis and other gear!
