I cooked up a little Los Lobos compilation last night. I love this band. Great talents, and diverse in their use of instruments.

Several months ago I had downloaded 12 songs from the band's official website, and had forgotten about them until last night when I found them on my HDD. I went out and checked this morning, and the songs are still there for free downloads. Granted they are MP3s, not cd quality, but most sound very good. They are available at:

http://www.loslobos.org/loslobos_mp3s.asp

I took these 12 songs, converted them from MP3 to .wav, and added a few from my cd collection to round out the compilation. The semi-finished product looks like this:

Don't Keep Me Wondering
Emily
Evangeline
Farmer John
Kiko and the Lavender Moon
One Time One Night
Rosa Maria
Soy Mexico Americano
Up The Line
Viking
Everybody Loves a Train
High Places
Tore Up, Tore Down, Tore Up (w/ Bonnie Raitt)
I Walk Alone
Rattlesnake Shake

Hmmmm...with my /fast dial-up connection I could get a song in a day. Then converting it to .wav would fill my entire HD. But hey, it's free right?

Thanks! That was great, about 600kbs d/load with help. Took
5 minutes. Going to knock out a disk now and give it a play.

Hot Shit! One of the only bands I have found listenable from the 80's to the present. Hidalgo is a great songwriter, and Cesar Rojas is rock and blues down to his toenails. I have probably their first 5 albums or so, but cut it loose awhile back. What album is Rattlesnake Shake on? That is a GREAT Peter Green tune. I must own it done by Los Lobos.

Toasted Almond,

I'm a little late in responding. You asked what album "Rattlesnake Shake" is on. My version is from a live bootleg that a friend of mine recorded at a Michigan concert. In fact, I have an entire bootleg cd (80 minutes) from that concert. If ya want one, let me know.
