I haven't logged on for awhile as I was a little peeved about a situation that happened about 2 months back. I saw this thread and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to start again. Here goes...

Hello, My name is Mitchell. I'm a 17 y/o guy from Sydney, Australia. I love vintage goods and most of my Hi-Fi consists of it. I work in a local PC repair shop and PC's are my other hobby (I must have about 8 of them).

My Hi-Fi consists of:

1: Luxman L-430 Integrated Amplifier

2: Sony CDP-315C 5-Disc Carousel CD Player

3: Pioneer PL-71 Turntable

4: Harman/Kardon DVD-47 CD/DVD/SACD/DVD Audio Player

5: Marantz ST-400 Tuner

6: Sony SB-V4CE System Selector

7: Rondo GS-1100 20-Band Equaliser.

I also have a Pioneer CT-F1250 cassette deck coming from Canada to make it into my rack.

Unfortunetly, Not alot of vintage is available in Australia (Not any of the stuff that has fame around here). If you plan on Holidaying somewhere in the Future, I recommend Australia, It's peaceful, big country for the population size, friendly people and such a diverse range of places (Beaches to the snow to the scrub to the desert etc).

I look forward to re-contributing to the AK community. Cheers, Mitch.

I'll append some more data as I can see others have said alot more than I have said.

I was born in Gosford, New South Wales, Australia on February 7th, 1990. Moved around abit growing up. My schooling years where a nightmare, I just couldn't get along with teachers. I have now left school and goto TAFE (Technical and Further Education). I have a steady job in a Local Computer Shop and have had that job for about 4 1/2 years now. My father died in 2004 due to cancer and that really changed my life for what I feel to be for the better. I got into Hi-Fi about 5 months after the old man died, I started off with a JVC JA-S5G amplifier that I obtained off the side of the road. I still have it with me for sentimental reasons (1st amp) but it rarely gets used. I now have about 8 different amplifiers/receivers including a Pioneer SA-7500II, JVC JA-S77, Pioneer A-60, Kenwood KR-7600, Yamaha CR-400, JVC JA-S5G and my Luxman L-430. The JA-S77 and the L-430 had to be imported from Canada and the US respectivly due to lack of stuff here.

I listen to a wide range of music. My favourite genres of music are probably Hard Rock and early Metal works like Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. I play things as old as The Doors up to the Latest Gwen Stefani or Maroon 5 album and alot of stuff inbetween. I also like instrumental pieces like Jazz and Big Band type of music. My most hated genre is probably Hip-Hop though I do use it for Bass demonstrations.

My main interests in audio is probably more Digital than Analog at the moment, I use my PC as a Media Center where I play Movies and Music through my amplifier and TV. I do very much enjoy spinning a vinyl record and have about 80 or so to play on my PL-71. I currently need a new cartridge for my Adcom stylus but I was thinking of just buying a Grado Prestige Gold. I will be playing with cassettes when the aformentioned Pioneer CT-F1250 arrives.

Sorry for ranting on more about my Audio Setup than my life story as I don't have much of one to tell. Mitchell, out. Have a nice day.

I visited Australia for 3 glorious weeks back in 1997. We stayed in Perth, Geraldton, Bunbury, Sydney, and several locales in Tasmania. It is a beautiful place, and we met some wonderful folks there. Oh, and the beer (and wine, too) ain't half bad, either :D.

Welcome back, Mitch! :music: Sorry for ranting on more about my Audio Setup than my life story... We probably have a high percentage of users who would as soon hear about the gear anyway. :D
