Hello, my name is Anthony and I am an alcoholic. Er, audioholic, who am I kidding. Anyways, I started into audio when I was very young, I was given my first record when I was about 8 and by the time I was 10 I had over 40 albums and cassetes. I realized early on that music is only as good as whats reproducing it, so when I was 13 I worked an entire summer to buy a Sharp rack system. Pretty cheasy I know, but I was the only 13 year old that had 15" woofers and 150 WPC.

Now, I didn't REALLY get into audio untill my ex-brother in law gave me his dads old stereo when I was 17. It was awfully dirty and missing some knobs and some feet, but it sounded so good that I decided to try and restore it to it's original condition. I checked at a few cash and carry electronics stores untill I had all the parts together and gave it a good cleaning, and it served as my main system along with a B&O turntable (which I picked up at a yard sale for $20) untill I turned 20. At that time my ex-brother in law and sister were divorcing and he must have realized how much the receiver was worth, but he told me that he wanted it back because it reminded him of his dead father. What could I say? I gave it back. That receiver was a Marantz 2245.

From that time untill about a year ago, I replaced my old system with NAD seperates and a pair of Vandersteen 2ce's. One day while surfing on ebay I typed in Marantz just for the hell of it and I couldn't beleive how much those old receivers were selling for! That got me thinking that there must be a damn good reason for it. So I picked up a Marantz 2270 off ebay and within a week I joined AK. Since then I have sold my NAD seperates broadened my horizons to other brands, but no matter what I seem to always end up going back to Marantz.

Personally, I am a hotel manager that lives in the middle of nowhere and longs to travel. Also, in about seven months I will be a father.:thmbsp:

I also recently added on another hobby to my list; homebrewing! I am drinking my first bottle as I type this. :beerchug:

I have so far brewed an ordinary bitter and an IPA. I have a book of recipes that I have been following (no kits) using malt extracts and hop pellets. :thmbsp:

I think the next match might be a porter or a stout, starting to get chilly here..

Cool that you're mixing your own, I kinds had a feeling... :D

Love Porters and stouts. I wonder how hard it would be to ship a bottle... :scratch2:
