About five years ago, I decided the turntable and the LPs needed to come out of storage, if for no other reason than to put a boatload of music on CD. Needed an amp/receiver to hook to the PC so went and picked up a vintage integrated amp on ebay. Then had my old Yamaha (that had the magic smoke let out of it) all fixed up. Then started looking for some speakers besides the old rack system speakers I was using. About 2 1/2 years ago, my brother dropped off a pair of AR4x that needed some attention - told me I could find some info on fixing them on a website named AudioKarma...........here I am.

I was married and raising a family at 17 (1974) and never really kept up with hifi gear but was exposed to some at the time with a brother-in-law who had a Mac system and a friend who worked for a dealer in Austin. In 1981, my friend set me and the second wife up with a Yamaha A-560 amp and a pair of Heresys. Through this time though, I just never really kept up with the latest and greatest.

Been married eight years now to a woman that I live with for almost twelve years who has let me tear up the living room to host a gathering of AK folk from central Texas the last two years where I have met a really great group of guys. And listened to some really good gear.

Over the last three years I've accumulated about twenty pair of speakers and a stack of receivers, amps and turntables - some vintage and some recent. I also recently built an S-5 Electronics 12-G tube amp. Most stuff works and I do a little bit of swapping about in my system.

I'm generally kind of a quiet guy and don't post a lot although I'm probably on here daily. Don't know much but if there's something I can help out on, I'll put in my .02 worth.

Other personal stuff - The wife and I have three grown kids (my two sons and her daughter) and three grand-children. We both grew up in Austin and lived there until moving to a small town outside Austin about six years ago. My younger days were spent working in the oilfields, mainly working on offshore drilling rigs off the Texas and Louisiana coast. For the past twenty years I have toiled away for a large federal bureaucracy.

Great bio, peep. What you did for a living is astounding IMO. Working off those rigs is just unbelieveable to me. Takes mucho brasso.

Not blaming it on you but when you introduced me to AK, you became an enabler - now I have a full forum of enablers.

Tapehead47 - Not so sure about the mucho brasso - more likely had a few screws loose (or missing altogether). It was work that I really enjoyed and may still be doing that work if the oilfield hadn't gone to hell in the mid '80s. But in many ways, it is just another job.

cableguy - Great show, I'm sure - that's some lineup.

Thanks to all.......
