Hi gang!
This new forum is getting a real workout, and it's great to see folks coming forward with a bit of an introduction! I figured it was about time that I stepped forward out of the shadows and made my introductions as well.
My name is Henry, and like many of you I am a regular visitor to AudioKarma (that's a bit of an understatement!). Truth be told, AudioKarma at times is like a home away from home... a place where I can always go to meet a few friends!
I stumbled upon AudioKarma late in 2004... my interests in quality music reproduction were being rekindled, and I was googling for information that might help me get my Kenwoods back into regular service. Not only did I find the technical assistance I was looking for, but I found a group of like-minded folks that I felt comfortable with. I joined AK in the spring of 2005 so that I could participate in the most compelling on-line "community" I had ever encountered, and I haven't looked back!
My gear doesn't turn over as much as some folks, but the inventory is growing slowly, and my system has expanded or evolved in some areas.
My main system currently consists of the following:
Kenwood KA-7100 integrated amp (Echowars refurbed and modded)
Kenwood KT-8300 tuner (PunkerX refurbed and modded)
Thorens TD-166MkII & Grado Red
Toshiba SD-3860 DVD player (via DAC)
Roku Soundbridge M500 (via DAC)
Entech Number Cruncher 205.2 DAC
EPI M100 speakers
Lovan Classic II rack
Linksys NSLU2 & 250Gb USB Drive, running UnSLUng & Firefly media server
I also have at least 6 pairs of project speakers of various types that will eventually rotate through...
Lately, I have found that my Roku SoundBridge has become my primary music source, playing streaming audio from the internet, or from my modest collection of digitized music on my FireFly media server.
My listening preferences lean towards Jazz, Blues, Rock... but I usually enjoy just about anything excluding opera, and hiphop/dance mix stuff.
I've had the pleasure of attending 3 AK Fests in a row, and have tremendously enjoyed meeting many AK members in person. I am proud to call them friends!

Hey Henry! I do appreciate the levelheadedness and taste in gear, but I think I like your sense of humor most. Thanks for making AK a fun place to hang out!

HPSenica From Toronto! Been There! Most Beautiful Skyline At Night I've Ever Seen!

Toronto! Been There! Most Beautiful Skyline At Night I've Ever Seen!.....HPSenicka, while in Toronto, we were staying in that hotel that has the top-level, wider than the building, round, restaurant, that resembles the Space Needle dish-structure....the hotel is located just the other side of the freeway, at the exact center of the "most" complimenting view of Toronto's Skyline....all I can say is, "Well Thought-Out Location"....HP, have you ever dined in that Space Needle about 10 stories above the ground in Toronto?....your woman would love it, and as I remember, the costs were quite decent....the meal me and mine had in the 'real' Space Needle on the left coast was about 120 US.....
.....the skyline view of Toronto, on a half-way cooperating night, was magnificent, and appeared staged...."best view-skyline", goes to Toronto....Seattle a close second.....
.....Guys, I stood there under The Space Needle in Seattle, looking up, and kept saying over-and-over, it's been there 32 years, it's been there 32 years, etc.....
.....I'll always consider the meal on The Space Needle as the most killer thing I did on a trip....It took one hour for the structure to rotate things full-circle.....
.....if you ever go, ask for a table closest to the windows that has just passed the city-view per rotation....you'll enjoy looking out over ocean during your salads, and you'll see colored lights far out....then when the main course shows, you'll be looking over the land just starting to show, with city lights bringing it to life....50 minutes from when you first sat down, you'll see coming around BEAUTIFUL Downtown Seattle, built on a hill, from the best possible view of 500 feet up in the air, as you begin your dessert and coffee with the resplendent view of Downtown Seattle coming full.....at that point, you hope ALL the peasants got something to eat that evening, haha :D....you lose that holier-than-thou attitude quick when it's time to elevator back down....

I believe the hotel you are referring to is the Westin Harbour Castle, located at the edge of Lake Ontario.

About 10 years ago I worked in a nearby office tower, and had a couple of opportunities to enjoy lunch there... but never went back for dinner in the evening.

About 10 years ago I worked in a nearby office tower, and had a couple of opportunities to enjoy lunch there... but never went back for dinner in the evening......yes, HPSenicka, we stayed in a few Westin hotels....I went with this girl that made three week-long business trips a year, all over, and I went along as protecter....why are you Guys laughing?....hey, we were together for over 5 years, and I'll just say I've seen a bunch of skylines....the best view of skylines at night, is right after it rains and has fully stopped....washes the air.....
.....Guys, the trips included free airfare for me covered by the place she worked, great rent-cars for 7 days, per-dium grub, and free room-7 days usually staying in a Westin Hotel, yes, I see those hands....I was required to pack clothes for myself and bring a little spending money....and, to bring my EOS camera-system with a pocketful of ASA 100 and a pack of fresh batteries....also took a mini-tripod for flashless night burn-in's folded-up in the thick briefcase I use for cameras, lenses, and whatevers on a camera outing....it had cut-out foam inside, meeting tightly, once I got innovative.....
.....she handled all the paper-work at the desks on charges....yes, I'm guilty, I was a compensated protecter, and earned my stay by protecting her from attacks on some trips....one time, in broad daylight, she was attacked by a Chicago pizza with legs....yes.....
.....thanks for the response, HPSenicka....the next time your woman is due a reward, think of her getting to over-look the skyline of Toronto....I wish I was close enough to go again.....

.....Moderator HP, sorry to stomp on this thread dedicated to you, with what I did 10 years ago....I was just that impressed with Toronto....please tell us about the first time you went up in that 1300 foot tower there....(may not be quite that tall)....isn't it the CN Tower?.....

Henry, chicken out? hell no! When henry puts the chaps on, the ladies flock to him. I read one eye witness account of him having 500 ladies up in that tower prior to graduating high school.

.....Moderator HPSenicka, I'll never forget hooking around the end of Lake Ontario at sunrise, then spending the day at Niagara Falls....on the Canadian side, important!.....that trip to Toronto rendered the best rent-car we ever had also, a year-old Lincoln Continental LSC that was amazingly quick....Great Day spent at Niagara Falls....humbling....eyes wide open....here's a shot probably taken from the hotel there.....
